Stokey me old mate. Dunno what it is but I've had an obsession with zulu the film over the last few days. You tube has so many historians going through the real characters and real history of that amazing fight . For me men of harlech along with the crashing beats of the zulu shields was unbelievable. Along with the obvious unbelievable bravery our troops put up. Just brilliant.
Week to go reds thought I'd stick it in before we start.

Enjoy the film mate, a real classic that is, this is a bit short notice but I have a spare ticket for this afternoons match, I don’t want anything for it.

Can anyone confirm if the game will televised? Mike's Bar in Falaraki thinks so but I'm sure I've read it won't be streamed. Straight after Charity Shield would be perfect.

Rick and ade Edmondson in the comedy series bottom is the greatest comedy series and comedy duo of all time and the young ones of course, the new statesman was top draw too, filthy rich and cat flap also was class…. the list goes on, Rick mayall is an absolute comedy genius, there’ll never be another rick mayall, the world is a sadder place without him definitely.
RIP Rick, your comedy will live on forever in my heart, a complete legend.

Cheers red balloons, they had it on with Spanish commentary. I thought Sam had a great 1st half and should've scored. Valencia were decent and scored a great goal but we played well too and deserved our equaliser. O'Brien? How many times was he fouled, great energy.

Heyup Bowie, just got in after a day up in Manchester with Grandson and family so only just now catching up.
“Zulu” is a favourite film of mine too. Though mostly accurate it takes a few liberties for dramatic effect. Firstly although the 24th Foot became the South Wales Borderers based in Brecon the vastmajority of the soldiers at Rorkes Drift were Brummies not Welshmen. But I guess it sounded much better for legendary Welsh tenor Ivor Novello to be belting out “Men of Harlech” than Jasper Carriott singing “Funky Moped” as the Zulus attacked! ???
There was a Nottinghamshire connection as Lt ( later Major) Gonville Bromhead (played by Michael Caine in the film ) was born in Lincoln and went to School in Newark (Magnus) where one of the Houses is still named Bromhead house in his honour.

The only joke I know relating to the film goes as follows .
During the Zulu attack, there’s Ivor loudly and bravely belting out “Men of Harlech” suddenly the man to his left falls over, pierced through the heart by a Zulu assegai. Undaunted Ivor continues to sing. Then the soldier to his right is killed by a Zulu spear as well . When a third man dies, a little soldier next in line is heard to say “ For Gods sake Ivor, sing something they bloody like”!

In the film Zulu I always felt sorry for Will?.
