This rumour is hard to believe: We are talking to Jesse Lingaard's agent about signing him.
He was allegedly on £180,000 a week at Man U but is a free agent so would cost nothing apart from wages and signing on fee.
Good player. England international. We need a number 10. Stranger things have happened - it's 40C in Nottm for a start. Jeebus!

If we paid Lingard £180k per week, that'd be less than £10m a year. Even offering him a three-year deal would be less expensive than MGW, who would command £30m alone for just the fee, plus then about another £3m a year in wages.
MWG is younger and woould retain a much higher sell-on value but Lingard is much more proven at PL level.
As a player, I'd prefer Lingard in my first XI but he would be the more short term option. As a buniess investment, MGW would be the smarter choice. IMO anyway.

GW is £30 mill if we could land him, probably out of our range but if we can't get him, Jesse could do a job there.
Personally I thought Lingard was excellent for the Hammers when on loan there and would fit in the Zinc hole very well. Need to sort his pay expectations a bit mind.

Linguard isn’t what I’d call a marquee signing.
He’s played for Man U England and done well.
But 29. He’s just looking for one final pay day.
Don’t even think Erickson is on that amount at Man U and he was a freebie.
Maybe offer him a £5m signing on fee and £50k a week.
Give him a 3 year contract. If he unsettles changing room we can flog him for more.
I’d sooner go for mwg or Cornett these 2 will double in value within a season.

Totally agree about Lingard, free agent so just over 17 mil for 2 years (that's if we match his demand of 180k per week) Proven at this level and who's to say MGW could just be a red herring in the PL.

I’d be more than happy to see us sign Jesse lingard. He’s a proven premier league player, technically fantastic and would be a real statement of intent.
While he doesn’t fit the mould of player we’ve been in for he’s one that I’d be happy for us to buck the trend for.
Yes his wages would be significantly higher than others in the squad but if his performances were to keep us up I don’t think anybody would complain at all.
I understand people would rather have MGW and that’s fair enough, he has a very high ceiling will likely have good resale value but for the gear and now I’d rather we had lingard because simply put he will perform.

I may be in a very small minority, but to me we need a midfield schemer who can run the show like Garner. Lingard may be a big name but he's 29 and from what I've seen he won't do the number 10 job, get back to defend, tackle and have the stamina for box to box. I don't think he fits what we need.
Any player that's available the journos want to tack on to Forest.

Whether Lingard comes to us or indeed picks West Ham, isn't it great we are pursuing players of his statue. England International, experienced PL player, who is cheaper than MGW, who I do rate very highly but has little PL game time.

For the record, I think we need an experienced Prem player like Lingaard. If we can afford it, then we should go for it.
Lingaard scored more assists and goals per game than he played for West Ham, didn't he? How many players we have (or can we get) who would do that?

2star, it's obvious what we need. We have signed some excellent young players. The one thing missing is a couple (maybe 3) more EXPERIENCED Prem players that have proven themselves at this level.
