So been an interesting day on here and great to read the differing opinions and the unwavering of personal thoughts that haven't changed whenever a managerial topic comes up.

Personally I don't like the premiership, I like the FA less and am sick of the only real driving force within the game MONEY. Obscene amounts and the parasites sucking the joy from the sport. Which brings me onto an interesting subject that maybe some wiser heads on here can shed some light and put a balance to it all.
FFP, seems a contradiction in terms to me.

Teams below the prem have to adhere to some kind of fair system where your wage bill has to fall with 80% of your gate receipts and other guidelines that seem flexible depending on the club involved. But how fair are parachute payments when clubs are fighting to survive within the rules yet clubs relegated from the prem have the luxury of 3 years or so of sweeteners to cover your over spend on wages and to make it feasible for a quick return. It's anything but FINANCIAL FAIR PLAY.

Makes me wonder why rich owners are not allowed to abandon any payment ceiling and buy their way to the prem, that's what parachute payments allure to. How Leicester got away with their scam Derby are still dithering and scraping and yet Bury were thrown to the dogs.
Theirs nothing fair in FFP, thoughts

Agree5 Disagree0

Always been a problem but some never make it back regardless
Boro Stoke Huddersfield Sunderland cardiff just to name a few.
If you don't spend the money wisely in the prem then when you get relegated it's all aboutvtrying to offload massive wages from flops that weren't good enough.
The one thing that's wrong with ffp is it has stayed at a 13 million loss in the championship and taken no account of inflation
The person to blame fir all this was one of our tight skin owners nigel doughty.
Bottom line is its rules and you have to obide by them or risk the consequences.

Personally I think that the rules should be if you are relegated from the Orem, and you want to keep the parachute money you start with a minus ten point penalty.

Guys, I’m not sticking up for the system - it’s naff. However, if you can’t pay the wages that players automatically think they’re entitled ( entitlement deliberately chosen as that’s what prem players think) you wouldn’t get anyway to play for you, if you then go straight back down you’d be bankrupt in a year . The idea is you restructure your club and reset the wage bill over three seasons . I’m not advocating it just offering an alternative view .

That’s why I asked the question 2star. When you say you wouldn’t get anyone to play for you then in a nutshell it’s all about greed. When is £50k a week not enough. Sterling is after £400k a week and owing to the filthy money swilling around the premier league then he will get it. Many will say that’s the market value and who should get the lions share of the spoils. I get that but seriously it should be capped and let the bounty hunters go abroad if someone is willing to pay the bounty. How about these multi millionaires sponsoring a hospital or nurses or war veterans. When you here Mikha Richards bragging about being on £60 a week aged 19 and spending £25 grand per bottle of champagne then it turns my stomach. It’s part of the reason I don’t follow international football, a collection of the highest earners swanking their wads.
But to me parachute payments are a disgrace. The EFL wages should be capped and if promoted and the wages go up pro rats then when relegated they should return to EFL levels. That would be proper planning for the future. And if players don’t like it then leave simples. We would then see who plays for the badge kissing shirt. Maybe then players would play harder to retain prem status with their club and try hard to get back if relegated. I mean returning to £20+ grand a week must be a dreadful hardship.

Strong arguments against unrestricted capitalism, Rutters. It's all about greed.

09 May 2022 11:55:44
Bang on Rutland it's the capitalist system we live in and it's an utter disgrace 20 k a week is even too much for some of these players, for god sake they kick a bag of wind around a field not save lives or risk there lives for there country.
I'm all for putting a cap on wages like Rutland says makes sense and proves who is really loyal to there club.
Smash the state I say so glad I'm a anarchist.
Power corrupts but money corrupts complete.

Probably the bosman was one of the worst things to happen professional football. A football club is like any business and is entitled to a return on investment ( ROI ) to my mind it started all this serious greed and bred a plethora of parasite type agents. I’m surprised that clubs have not challenged or tried to reverse the principle of the bosman. Even the term running down a contract stinks of complacency on and off the pitch. It’s right that a player has the choice but ultimately the clubs should hold a registration which guarantees an agreed sell on fee if the player wants to leave. It’s only fair to the clubs of all divisions or net worth. Too much obscene money leaves the footballing club circuit and ends up in the hands of the unworthy. Surely this is fundamentally wrong and out of decency fifa uefa etc should look at the utter greed and gluteny the bosman has created.

You can't cap wages it's against the law.
If you think they are just a bunch of money grabbers then just stop watching then?
Golfers tennis players American sports are they not paid massive wages?
It's life stop moaning and deal with sounds like some of you would prefer a communist state. 🤔🤣.

09 May 2022 13:46:48
It's the system and society that is floored and unfair always has been and always will be.
Well isn't it Fff79.

09 May 2022 14:32:38
Not for me jolly I love life right now.
I work hard and then play hard.
c.v. restrictions are gone the sun is shining the birds are singing and gardens shooting into life again.
Love having family and grandkids and with forest having such a fantastic season then everything is rosy mate.
Can't do anything about what politicians get up to as they act like children in a playground and that goes for all of them.

09 May 2022 14:36:30
79 we are having a debate, discussion. Your so aggressive mate. Golfers tennis players don’t get mega bucks until they start winning. They play for prize money so no win or if you don’t go deep into a tournament you get very little. Footballers sign a contract and get paid irrespective. Plus golfers etc have to do the business no one else just them…sponsorship deals only happen if your successful.

09 May 2022 15:01:22
Im not getting into this argument rutters mate. But top golfers / tennis players etc get very high attendance money along with there sponsorship.

09 May 2022 15:06:44
Did I not join the discussion then?
Your saying it makes you sick to the stomach what players earn?
Well it is what it is and it's not going to change, I love watching and don't see the point in moaning about what they earn.
It's big business, not just sport as are all sports.

09 May 2022 15:27:54
When was the last time Rory mclroy or Lee Westwood won a tournament?
Yet they still get millions. 🤔.

09 May 2022 15:39:08
Recently 79 but they earned the right by winning to get on the tour then winning to get the mega bucks. Not saying it’s right but you HAVE to win first

09 May 2022 16:04:53
What about tennis?

09 May 2022 17:06:39
Only winners get the real money. Anyway you miss the point. We are talking football and bosman, the damage to clubs. Read my post re bosman please.

09 May 2022 18:41:22
Meant appearance money 🤣🤣.

09 May 2022 18:56:02
We all agree about bosman
But sky have put the money into football and sponsorships have gone up because of it and advertising revenue has increased dramatically with TV coverage.
Like I say you can't cap wages, they are self employed.

10 May 2022 07:53:31
It's all right Rutland mate, Fff79 can't stand me and would just about disagree with me on anything.

10 May 2022 14:14:03
And how have you come to that conclusion jolly?
