Months ago on this site, when all the anti Ryan Yates stuff was in full flow, I said with some coaching he could become a goalscoring midfield player. Don't want to say I told you so but he's learned to time his forward runs and is a real handful in the air. One more goal and he has double figures, he's having a great season.

I've always been a Yates fan. I said he could hit double-figures in a season and be a £5-10m midfielder one day. didn't think it would be this season though!
One of our own, works like a dog. Plays with pride and about to hit 10 for the season. I think some Forest fans should be enjoying a few slices of humble pie :)

I doubt anyone (other than Ginger) could avoid being handed a pie slice wonky - even you I believe . Figs, Yates, colback, samba, Grabban, garner, Cafu, lolley they’ve all had a bashing on here, others too probably.

The big mistake with Rowdy was not getting him around the first team earlier than they did , saw him at Meadow Lane and he should have been put in the squad when his loan deal ended IMO he was ready then and would have progressed quicker than he has ,never mind he doing good now .
The same can be said about Fornah.

I think Yates is great, just look at the game yesterday without Grabben it was free flowing football, not looking for a target man. I don't say he has no role to play. But it's off the bench, and never captain again! .

I’ve always rated Yatesy. Reminds me of Chris Cohen. Runs all day, boundless energy, can play a pass, tackle and nowadays scores a few as well! If I’ve called him a hod carrier in the past it was meant as a compliment! Every team needs one so the more naturally gifted can create. Yates works tremendously hard to be the best he can be and as an articulate and pleasant young man is a great Ambassador for the club.

He was doing great under o Neil but lost his way a bit after that, Cooper has definitely found the best version.
