Ok i know there's a lot of older reds on here. Heres my top 10 70s actors as that's what you get xmas time in bbc 😉
1= paul Newman, the camera loved the lad height of cool.
2= steve mcqueen yup still can't spell his name. But same again.
3= yule brennar, c'mon what a bloke.
4= Sophie Lauren, gorgeous just gorgeous
5÷ Christopher walken. Deer hunter especially.
6= julie andrews. Could sing act. She was perfect. And still brings so many childhood memories.
7= al pacino, brought a different type of acting to the fore.
8÷Marlon brando ÷ guess his accolades speak for themself.
9= dick van dyke, another member of my childhood heros .
10÷ robert de niro, what a man . Could play any roll .

Magnificent selection Bowie, all legendary actors. One of my great pleasures in life (pre c.v. anyway) is the theatre and one of the many blessings of coming from Nottingham is the world class Nottingham Playhouse.
I think the most brilliant and charismatic actor I saw live, many many years ago was Peter O Toole in Pygmalion. Just effortless, he was like a bloke just enjoying himself on stage, magnetic, like watching George Best or Messi playing football. Genius and a privilege to see him.
Saw John Thaw in a cameo piece in Hamlet, again amazing.
Christopher Ecclestone in Macbeth, early days when he was a very edgy actor, pushing the boundaries always angry and intense ( not at all like he is now, very amiable when I saw him at the RSC in Stratford) .
Add to that John Hurt in Krapps Last Tape and the incredible Mark Rylance in the Golden Ass at the Globe, just breath taking. Both held me spell bound for hours.

Forgot to add Anthony Sher as Falstaff in Henry 4th at the RSC! Again, just sublime and very very funny!

Wow stokey, your certainly in a different grade to me me auld son. Not that i don't respect that. Did i tell ya my daughter done a lot of theatre work. Her manager/ agent was tim heeley (aufweiederson pet, probably spelt wrong) she played frenchy in grease at Newcastle theatre royale. And so many more around the country . Always brought a tear to the old mans eye . Done loada of work at whitley bay playhouse etc. So proud of her my friend ✌.

I’d be proud of her too Bowie. I’m in awe of anyone who can get up onto a stage in front of an audience and act. I certainly couldn’t do it mate. Good on her.

Bowie, makes you proud to be a father.
My two grandsons have excelled in my wildest hopes . Eldest from a shakey start has blossomed and has gained a place at Uni, taking Law. Youngest has passed his drumming grade 7 at the age of 13, and plays solo. And has been offered a membership in the brilliant club at Cambridge Uni. He, s red not on them drums, rock never like you ever heard.

Unreal 1951, my kids acted there way through all 3 😉 nah proud of ya son . You must be very proud sir. Mind my youngest made it for Newcastle academy in football then give it up for fags and booze. Just being honest, and my oldest got a gold medal in grandkids. I tried talking to him about it, but his reply was dad won't be long 😄.

Fags and booze, not for me. Woman trouble, you can't tell them as they know best. We are men of the world, well we think we are, my two daughters remind me of how my past advice was, erm, wrong.
