Looking at the squad, at present it numbers 34. If these, Bong and Jenks will be in their way and promising youngsters like Konate, Richardson, Swann and Harbottle will continue their development with the Under 23s prior to loans to lower division teams. Tutu won't be off Arsenals treatment table anytime soon. I think Cafu and Carvalho will be surplus to requirements. That leaves 25 including 3 goalkeepers and 22 outfield players which is about the optimum size.
It would be a good squad with youngsters Fornah, Johnson, Fernandes, Back and Mbe Soh fed into the first team backed with a few old pros like Grabban, Colback and Taylor. That's my analysis and IMO opinion with Cooperman developing the Academy lads it's good enough for top six.
What do you think fellow Reds? I've got my little tin hat on so am prepared for incoming fire!

I think your right stokey, we have a better squad than most in this league barring maybe three.
As we see most seasons there are always clubs challenging at the top end of the table with what looks on paper a weak squad.
I really believe we will be up there this season as the one thing we have now 8s pace in the side and a very positive approach to the game which has been lacking since marinakis took over.

Should have read “ Of these, Bong and Jenks will be on their way”.
That squad would look very balanced IMO FF.
so, 3 goalkeepers Samba, Horvath and Smith.
2 right backs Back and Lowe, 2 left backs, Spence and Drager all attack minded and quick.
6 Centre Backs, McKenna Worrall Figueiredo Mbe Soh Ely and Baba Fernandez, the latter 3 comfortable on the ball, the former 3 old fashioned stoppers which gives options to SC.
Wide men Lolley, Zinc, Mighten and Johnson lots of pace and guile there.
Central midfielders Yates, Garner, Colback, Ojeda, Fornah
Central strikers Silva, Grabban and Taylor.
7 out of 22 Academy products and the average age of the squad is young also as per our CEO s strategy.
Plus a few more Academy products waiting in the wings?

With cooper hes also shown he's prepared to play without a striker aswell so lots of players capable of swapping positions, which is a game changer during games aswell instead of having to make subs to change things.
It's the most positive I've been in years that we are on the right road with Cooper, also unlike previous coaches he's only bought in his right-hand man and not made wholesale changes to the coaching staff.
Looking forward to the game tomorrow.

Good posts Ff and good points made. Also it would actually be 8 out of 22 Academy products forgot about Jordan Smith.
