I have a question reds, myself being a geordie. Done the obvious thing and brought my two lads up to be forest fans 😂😂 they both left for there Newcastle. Bless em. But they both say forest will always be there second team. Myself and i know this sounds wrong have no attachment whatsoever now with the toon. I guess its psychological with the arguments i had throughout the years. Do any of you have an attachment with county. I don't mean this to come over wrong, just curious?

My first venture to a football ground was the Baseball ground in
1965 against Leed John Charles was at Centre Forward for Leeds and Albert Johanson on the wing they crucified Derby but it ends a draw started watching The Reds and NOT look back since.

Bowie 1-0 to basford then mate looks a great result for them, and just to say I have zero affinity with notts county, and their sad band of bitter and deluded fans, 😊.

Bowie mate, I read many years ago ( and highly recommend) Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby which tells of his lifelong love affair with Arsenal. He memorably says his Dad happened to take him as a kid to see Arsenal play and he says it was like a small new born bird thinking that the first thing he sees is his Mother! 😂😂That was certainly the case with me and my Dad seeing Forest v Blackburn I think in 1965 when I was 9! Hope that helps my friend!

Bowie, yes, my dad was on Notts books in the late 40s and a lot of my mates support them. Strangely, my dad took me to my first match in 1956 to see Forest v Leicester and I have been Forest every since. In the 80s I had menswear shops and I often sponsored Notts as well as advertising in their programmes. In the 60s I used to watch Forest one weekend and Notts the other, that was in the good old days when matches were only played at 3 pm on a Saturday but was always a Forest fan.

I used to go to Notts when forest were away in the days when Tony heatley came back to them.
Forest always for me, but when your a young kid and not allowed and cudnt afford away trips, it was great to keep watching and in total different leagues so never found them a threat to forest being the biggest team.
It was also in the days where it was inexpensive to go.
I have many friends and family that are Notts fans and at the end of the day I'm a Nottingham bloke through and through and want all our sports teams to prosper, although cud'nt give a monkeys about women's football.

Always want County to do well. Mansfield are my local team and I back them too. I imagine my mindset would be different if they were in the same league as Forest though.

I followed County as a youth. Saw them beat Brighton in the Play Off Final about 30 years ago. Johnson, Draper, Cherry, Short. Great side.

Thanks stan the man, and ff79 stan you must of been very proud of your old man, well i guess we all are. But its the quality time you spend with them on the terraces that make it that much better. Not always the football in front of you. Thanks for the reply mate.

ff79 i always remember a post which you replied of your oversize football boots and the hardship of the old days. I too went through them coming from a big family. Football is probably the cheapest drug there is to give us a high, but also as we all know, it can have its downers.

Hard to wean off the best. But its the quality of friendship and families that we come back to after each game. (Or watch in my case) and share. Like the gathering around the table on sunday. Luv you all reds 👌.

They weren't hard times at that time Bowie as the majority of families in Clifton were mostly poor.
Had a great childhood as you were allowed to go out and made your own fun playing football in the street without worrying about cars coming along.
Fishing bullrushing, dens in the woods, something kids nowadays can't do as it's not safe.
It's only as you get older you look back and see you where poor, but my mum always made sure we had a summer holiday and joined the boys brigade to get a camping holiday with my mates.
Poor financially but very rich upbringing.

Unreal hahahaha i also joined the boys brigade because of the same thing . Always had the brasso out shining my belt buckle and whitening my strap. I think i told ya i ran for the bb representing the north east at gateshead stadium. 100 mtrs. I was straight out the traps, well ahead but smoking at 11 yr old. The final 10 mtrs became slow motion 😂😂 as you say my friend never going to be poor with love surrounding you.

Thank you all for the replys, good to share ✌.

Notts who? 🤣🤣👍.

10 Oct 2021 11:20:22
Bowie suppose it’s sad to say really but the only time I set foot in counties ground is when they play Forest, I have no interest in county a all. I still look at there results though, obviously hoping they loose, don’t know why it is, not as if I hate them as with the sheep, I even like to see other local sides winning, Mansfield, Lincoln just a thing I have about Notts, possibly born out of people calling Forest, notts Forest mate, does my head in .

I can totally understand where your coming from dreamteam mate 👍.
