The most worrying thing about our situation is that this division is utter crap, so that tells us all we need to know about our current state of affairs,

Agree2 Disagree0

Utter crap? It's probably the 6th strongest league in the World. I don't understand it when fans say this. In terms of quality it's better than most other foreign leagues. Is only the Premier League any good?

The standard is crap.

Taking aside the Scots league, which is awful, it’s difficult to think of the champions of any of any other leagu in Europe that wouldn’t walk away with the championship, you kid yourself that being competitive equals a good standard, when actually it means exactly the opposite, it means most teams are capable beating each other because they are all bang average at best,

Stevie, the champions in most European leagues are the same team or two every year who play in Europe (so have a lot of cash) .

Below those few top teams most European leagues have a far smaller revenue, wage bill and hence have worse players and a lower standard than the Championships.

"The 24 teams that make up the Championship brought in combined revenue of €835 million euros ($967 million) for the 2016/ 17 season, according to Deloitte’s figures, making it the sixth highest soccer league anywhere in terms of revenue. "

Google that quote if you doubt it.

Well organised teams often make each other look ordinary. You need literally world-class players like Man City, Liverpool et al. to look very good every week against very well driled, well paid players. If you think the standard is poor, watch the Italian league outside the top 5 teams.

Absolute boring dross mate.

Red outside about 3teams the premier winners are the same every year, and usually the championship top 2 is dominated by the relegated teams, the championship gets good crowds compared to European leagues, but that doesn’t mean the quality of football is any good, a galatasary, an olympiacos, never mind the better teams in the mainstream European leagues, would win this championship easily, it’s full of long ball muscle men, and average teams, full of ordinary players and young kids.

All I know is we aren't competing under hughton and that's what matters.
I'd say the Bournemouth vs QPR game last night was full of quality play from both sides and a thoroughly good game to watch.
First goal a big mistake but on the whole very entertaining.

I watched wba v derby, wba bumping it as far as possible and derby trying to pass it but not having the ability, and being out muscled, terrible game, poor quality,

15 Sep 2021 11:53:28
Yes, the winners of those leagues are better than Championship clubs due to European revenue. However, the rest of their divisions are lower standard/ revenue than the Championships. Simple as that. And they are more boring to watch as well.

Agree, FF

Warburton's sides are much better to watch. They will also win games when on form, as they are set up to win. When on-form, we still look likely to draw due to the tedious tactics.

Red to be fair mate I’m only quoting galatasary, olympiacos etc because I am assuming these would be outside the top 5 Euro leagues the championship Is alledged to be a better standard than, , it’s a competitive league, because all the teams are average standard or below, any team with quality would run away with it, as Newcastle have done in recent years,

The toon looked to france a lot a few years ago. Always got a ringer. Which helps big time in the championship.
