I wake up most days now and check my newsfeed to see if Hughton has been sacked. I can't believe that I still haven't read that headline.

I've never been less confident going into a Derby game, and that's with Derby in disarray. We will lose, and in the miracle that we win, he should be sacked anyway.

So let's be positive and assume he has been sacked. Where do we go now?

We've let another manager sign players and take up a whole transfer window only to not see it through, which means the new manager will want to bring his own players in January. Sigh. Doesn't that sound familiar?

Who could we realistically appoint? Eddie Howe is a pipe dream and a few friends of mine who know him say that he wants a job no further North than London as his young family are settled. He's in no rush to get back into management and is financially secure enough to bide his time.

Chris Wilder seems a possibility. He lives in the East Midlands and his experience of getting Sheffield up and keeping them up has to stand for something. Although you could say the same about dear Chris. Would the players he inherits suit his 3-4-1-2 system? Very much so. Chris also has a knack of getting the best out of ex-Forest players, so maybe he could get a tune out of existing ones.

If not Wilder, then do we look in house? Our very own Gary Brazil and Andy Reid as a dynamic duo? Michael Dawson who inexplicably wasn't given a coach role and left the club? Or a lower league manager?

I'd love to hear your suggestions.

Karl robinson.

When Hughton goes a n other manager will have the same problems as Hughton and those before him.
Marinakis and his pygmys will interfere with who plays and what tactics to use, of course this is my view but the onus is on the owner.
It will probably be a foreign coach/ manager who Marinakis trusts to be a yes man.
Lose at Derby and I think Hughton will go.
The new coach/ manager will be entering a harsh environment and poison chalice.
We will never know the true extent of what happens in the upper echelons where Marinakis and Co recide.

I must say on the new signings hughton hasn't done bad Grantham
mate, ok tutu was a crock but is that his fault. As for the new manager we'd need harry potter the lads young and i'm sure he could work some magic.

25 Aug 2021 10:53:12
Fawaz do you really, really believe Marianakis phones Hughton on the morning of a match and says heres my team sheet and re tactics, play defencively, don't cross half way line and make sure they don't shoot at goal. Youll be docked a weeks wages for every goal we score.
and this coming from an owner who allegedly doesn't care about Forest and is only interested in Olympiacos, why would he go to this much trouble.

25 Aug 2021 11:03:14
Bowiered3 if you are going to give praise to Hughton for the players signed that look good then you have to blame him for the crocks.

Tutu has a hamstring injury, that is his 5th hamstring injury in 10 months, so yes it is Hughton's fault.

25 Aug 2021 11:30:40
Your right mind, as soon as i sent it i thought maybe? i'm not sure. If it was hughton.

25 Aug 2021 11:33:55
I'm pretty sure Marinakis doesn't interfere with team selection or tactics, that's just crazy talk. We may not select players who need to be sold from time-to-time, or players that have appearance monies in their contract but most clubs do that. There's no conspiracy, there's no interfering owner, we're just crap. This new CEO looks the business though so let's give it time to work. The players being linked are much better, there does now seem to be a recruitment strategy finally, it just needs time to develop and may not bear fruit til next year. This season is already a write-off, hopefully the new CEO gets to pick the next Manager/ Head Coach which undoubtedly will hapen at some point soon.

This time next year the club should be in a much better position. Keep the faith.

25 Aug 2021 11:34:56
Oh and some unknown charismatic foreign coach that plays attacking football is my bet for a next Manager. don't care who.

25 Aug 2021 11:43:00
Cowley for me

If it has to be someone unemployed then lampard.

25 Aug 2021 12:11:38
I thought Cowley retired from CI5 years ago, he would be older than Hughton. 😁.

25 Aug 2021 12:22:33
The is a football philosophy at the club that allows a format to be followed and a supposed ability to replace managers seamlessly and allow long term blueprint, that inevitably influences players signed by the hierarchy and on behalf of the current coach and thus influences the style of play .
To translate that reasonable possibility into marinakis phones chris and tells him who to play is what’s ludicrous .

25 Aug 2021 12:23:43
Ps I completely agree we will be in a better position strategy wise but it will be in league one .

25 Aug 2021 12:37:31
The cowleys are as bad as hughton with the same negative style.

25 Aug 2021 12:53:07
They will definitely be the next coming in then. 😂.

25 Aug 2021 13:00:39
Ok Trent explain why so many manager's have failed?
Everyone who has managed here since Marinakis has been the owner have done sweet F A!
Do you blame the players or the manager's?
Marinakis and his goons have influence over management transfers etc.
How else could so many manager's fai?

25 Aug 2021 13:05:27
Ps Trent how much time is needed for what you are asking?
Marinakis has a lot to answer for and if Forest continue the way they are League 1 is without doubt on the cards and I suppose you want Hughton to be here for foreseeable?
Wake up man.

25 Aug 2021 13:10:02
2star just to clarify I never said Marinakis calls Hughton that was Trent who implied this?
I stated he has influence on the manager, transfers etc and with his trusted aides takes advice from.
Trent needs to read things more clearly.

25 Aug 2021 13:18:22
Wonkyeye the new CEO looks the Business?
How so?
What has done thus far that we know of?
Until he does something I like others will hold judgement.
Each window we are linked with every player available just like this one.
I suppose been linked another Goalkeeper is the sign of a CEO who's the business?
Wow!

25 Aug 2021 14:56:31
Fawaz, I know you didn’t, it wasn’t aimed at you!

25 Aug 2021 15:25:46
Oops. sorry 2star my bad! 😔😔🙊.

25 Aug 2021 17:19:55
Fawaz calm down mate its a banter site as you keep telling everyone. You can post as many times as you like belittling my opinions but i'm still entitled to them. Its not a popularity contest.
To answer some of your questions.
The managers signed have failed for far more years than just under Marianakis and failed because they weren't good enough.
The same will happen to Hughton if he ain't good enough
If you class a manager as a failure in getting his team to promotion then the the leagues are crammed with failed managers. We don't hold the exclusivity on that state of affairs. we are not owed a place in Prem League. its not our devine right. There are lots of big clubs out of Premier league.
I don't blame players or manager. i'm sure they do their best but as in life ones best sometimes isn't good enough.
Why do we have to have someone to blame, it doesn't help the situation, why do you need someones blood.
Stating the obvious but yes agree the owner has influence on the manager. Ofcourse he does he is the boss and its his money in the club. wouldn't you influence people if you employed them and paid them to get results?
Not for the first time you have misinterpreted a post, but the bit where I said DO YOU think Marianakis phones Hughton and tells him who to pick and tactics, was tongue in cheek, call it sarcasm.
Im not sure what i'm supposed to read more clearly maybe before you fly off the handle you should read posts clearly,
Finally I don't know how much time he needs to turn things around, I just get the impression that the squad is getting smaller, younger and there is a different stratergy to signings, academy doing its bit so its bad bad not critical yet.
As I've said before I support the manager because he is the manager. He ain't doing the business at the moment but will get my support along with the club I have supported for over 60 years. that's what supporters do isn't it?
ps I've watched far worse Forest sides in those 60 years, believe me.
