Over the past few weeks I have not looked forward to the Euro's. But I have looked on u-tube at some of the songs, Vindaloo, World in motion, and of course Three Lions several times. We may not win the Eurovision song contest, but we can sure do a football song. I just wish the Players take the knee in the changing room. Can you imagine a pub, out door viewing, and booing happened when the crowd was mixed. Southgate is so wrong, I just think someone like Venables at his pomp would get these players, playing great. That is the best way of showing racism is wrong. A mixed team winning the Euro's for England. You know it's coming HOME!

There is nothing wrong with making a statement that we will not stand for racism. Nothing. Period.

Red cyclist, fair enough, so when we get back to normal, I assume taking the knee will be done before every theatre, performance. Every rock concert every boxing match, every horse race meet, etc, etc, what’s so special about football fans that it’s done at every game,?

12 Jun 2021 17:37:53
Taking the knee is pointless. It does absolutely nothing. Other countries aren’t doing it for a reason.

12 Jun 2021 19:11:19
Regardless of whether you think there is a point, if a player or team - or anyone else - want to make a gesture to stand up to racism, then they have a right to do so. If you disagree, then I'd love to know why. Why boo someone for standing up to racism?

Because you oppose freedom of expression? You think it is wrong to stand up to racism? You are a closet White Supremacist? You are radically opposed to people standing in a position they choose to?

The arguments against taking the knee are just as pointless as any gesture ever could be. Unless you oppose standing up to racism that is.

Oppose racism, or not. That is your choice. But if you believe in freedom of expression, then there is no justification for booing players who want to oppose racism by CHOOSING to take the knee. you don't have to and they don't have to stand. That is freedom.

And don't tell me that you haven't heard racism at a footy game. That is not common in many other sports, but I don't think I've ever attended a game and not heard either racist abuse of a player from individuals or in chants. If you think there is not a racism problem in football, then you are delusional.

12 Jun 2021 22:11:28
Calling people delusional doesn't help any cause red cyclist. doesn't that come under the plight you adhere to. My own beliefs, some young kids have this instilled in them. Does this ignorance make them delusional. Its the media more than anything that stirs up such wrongs. Just my opinion mate.

Red cyclist you make zero sense. Not sure who you are calling a white supremacist either. When black players have decided not to take the knee.

12 Jun 2021 20:38:37
Red cyclist yes I’ve heard lots of racism over the years, as a kid I witnessed Albert johannsen, one of the very few black players in the early to mid 60’s, playing for Leeds at the city ground, subjected to merciless monkey chants every time he touched the ball, nobody batted an eyelid, looking back it was disgusting, things thankfully are much better these days, and I take exception to the inference that anyone who doesn’t want politics rammed down his throat on a Saturday afternoon, is some sort of white supremicist, and if you think 22 blokes ‘ taking the knee? ’ For a few seconds is going to change the mind of hardened racists, you are the one who’s delusional,

12 Jun 2021 21:45:11
Red cyclist you’re a hypocrite you can’t pick and choose freedom of speech. If you agree with FOS then I’m sorry you have to accept booing. There are plenty of footballers who disagree with the knee and are black. Are they white supremacist? I think you are the delusional one. The racist people you talk about will not care if players take the knee or not they will still be bigots. Get a grip.

12 Jun 2021 22:42:12
Tbh I haven’t heard any racist chants or racism at the CG for years in fact I can’t really think of any? I must have overheard bits in pubs and amongst small groups, it must go on but I must just be lucky that I’ve never encountered it.

13 Jun 2021 18:30:41
I never said you can't boo. I'm no hypocrite. I'm saying what are you booing if you aren't a racist?

14 Jun 2021 11:25:22
Instead of calling people racists without evidence maybe you should ask those people. Otherwise calling people racists who are not dilutes the word and gives it less basis.
