Another great programme on channel 4 on the awareness of gambling in football. My apologies as i know i keep going on about it but i will always bring to light how easy it is to fall into despair following this horrible habit. The government really need to stop sponsorship of this on team shirts etc. Please please please, if you feel your betting a little more than often and can't seem to slow down. Get help, there are very good sites now that can help. When the fun stops, fck that it never starts believe me. Talk to someone and never be afraid to admit to yourself its a habit. Thanks reds only because i care believe me 👍

And btw 'there is one suicide related death associated with gambling in the uk every day, just saying. Man up and stand up to it. If not for yourself then everyone around ya. Ok no more, ✌

{Ed001's Note - every day? Wow, that is shocking. One a year is too many, let alone a day.}

Well said Bowie mate.

like I've said before football clubs who have betting firms as there sponsers shouldn't sell replica shirts with the betting logo on them to the under aged suporters. clubs should take some responsebility even if it costs them a few bob.

Simple the government make huge amounts of tax from gambling. On the lockdown the trend of addictions shot up.we all know as 79 pointed out how easy it is to have bets on your mobiles. The betting firms say you can have, time outs, cap on your spending etc etc, its all sh#te you move to another gambling firm if you can't have one.for me there should be more clinics etc set up and paid for by these firms. Kids are starting now between 15/16 yr old. Gambling on such things like players for there playstations etc, we all must be there for our kids and influence them in the awareness of gambling. Doesn't take long.

see your point bowiered, then the clubs should offer types of shirt them its up to the parents to decide.

I didn't think they could sell shirts to under 18s with betting / gambling firm sponsors on them? I know forest don't. or didn't.

Im not to sure about that chim mate, the programme last night followed a 15 yr old. He was paying £15 a time on the hope he would get a decent player for the FIFA game. Playstation. He was getting £35 a week buying 2 x players =£30 the players he received were crap. What do they do. Gamble the next week. And this is the sad situation which brings kids in.

{Ed007's Note - Belgium and The Netherlands have already banned the selling of FIFA Points (what you buy to "buy" in-game packs without knowing what you get in them) and "loot boxes" which are the same type of thing for different games. It's definitely a form of gambling and other countries including the US, UK and Germany have at least looked into it and could ban them in the future.
In the FIFA community there is a "pay to win" way of playing the game and basically the more money you spend on points/packs the more chance you have of getting the top players, it doesn't help that the top streamers on Twitch etc spend HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS live on their streams making the youngsters think they need to try and emulate them - even though the streamers are apparently on EAs "red list" and their pack luck is set higher than the normal punter. Imo opinion these guys are encouraging kids to gamble.
I play FIFA a lot but apart from buying the game I've never spent a dime on it but one of my mates was giving his 12-year old son £25 a week to spend on Fortnite until I told him that what he was doing was gambling and that in that game the stuff he won didn't actually help his son become a better player, it was all aesthetic stuff like a new outfit or a fancy looking paintjob for a gun but if you don't have the latest outfit etc you're open to being abused etc I've even heard stories of kids being abused and told their family must be poor as they didn't have all the latest stuff in a game.}

Brilliant ED just brilliant, thanks for that mate. And as you said about your mate, you brought the awareness of these firms, playstation/xbox/etc etc ladbrokes/betfred they are the best players ever with psychological mind games. Please just be aware of what your child/partner/family members are doing when/if there gambling. Can you see a drop in there personality etc. Just any sign. Believe me. You can change or even save not his/her life but there's around them,

{Ed007's Note - No worries mate and well done for highlighting this 👍

I’m bang up to date with this gaming lark 🤣 sorry guys but we still have our Wii out and still enjoy it. If that’s what goes on with the PlayStation etc it’s disgusting and to me borders on being criminal. What a shame you can’t just play the game.

Best thing to do is to only gamble with cash you have spare in your pocket at the bookies, i refuse to do online buying or anything like banking as its designed to make you unaware of how much your spending.
Said before that the government turned the country into gamblers when they introduced the lottery, now people aŕe addicted to scratch cards and plenty to chose from.

All the online companies are targeting housewives by bombarding them with daytime bingo adverts and sky sports every advert is for some gambling site.
Don't get me wrong i like a bet but mainly football and prefer 10p 7 8 9fold bets costing £4.60.

You can still win big money but i only have teams at even or above, had a couple of good ones the season before as didn't bother last one.
Two ways of gambling putting a lot on a acca of the top teams or a small amount using different methods but you can't trust the top teams now when they playing in Europe mid week.

Bottom line is we are a nation of gamblers so its all about only spending what you can afford.
