Let's get a bid in for Shanklands who scored a 54 yd strike against St Johnstone, reminding me of Lewis McGuigan!

Walker is younger, just.

Walker can score from distance, in a Forest shirt.

Shankland has mostly played in lower leagues, like Walker, except Shankland was off course in the Scottish lower leagues.

Yet you want to give him a chance, what the same chance as Walker got. 😁.

Think personally its definitely worth a punt.
Whatever level he's played at he's stepped up.
Celtic and rangers probably would like him but can't stump up the money.

13 Jan 2021 19:16:39
Forest. My opinion is not that Shankland is not worth stumping two, or three million for, just that Walker has had a similar career but not given a proper chance to show what he can do.

I'm sure Shankland got to play more often for all of his clubs than Walker did at Forest.

I also find it hard to believe what doc m has said over both players and i would be surprised if hand on heart if he would consider Forest bringing in Shankland and playing him as little as Walker was and think Shankland was given a fair go of things to prove himself.

I agree mate walker did 9k under warburton as did mckay and brereton.
What some shortsighted fans didn't see was he was trying to build a side on youth without having much money to spend as the open letter told us.
To me the worst thing we did was upset mcparland to walk as dof.
He was a much respected dof and was working to the instructions of marinakis to build a young side on home grown talent and up and coming young talent from lower leagues.
Warburton was toast as i said before his last game regardless of the result and he knew.
We've gone backwards ever since.
Warbo had smith, cash, worrall, walker and brereton all in his side or squad and mighten and soh would not be sitting on the bench now if he was in charge.
How much did qpr make from him playing Eze?
Tippy tappy?
He was building something from scratch with youth.
Only me and skegsjay stood up for him on here.
The crap of karanka and now hughton shows we've gone backwards while costing millions and forcing the sale of very good young players.

Ff79 in my opinion warburton ruined breretons development by opting to play him out wide. He never seemed the same after. McKay has been proven not to be up to championship standard. The jury is out on whether we have made a mistake with walker.

13 Jan 2021 20:02:15
Stevie warburton played two wide attackers that came in and made it three up front when in possession.
Both walker and brereton benefited from getting game time while learning the demands of first team football.
Grabban played as awinger in his younger days and going back even further where did sur brian get garry birtles to learn his trade in the reserves?
Midfield.
Warbo and mcparland had a plan and worked together.

13 Jan 2021 20:21:48
Ps stevie would you see mr boring hughton play youngsters?
No not a chance not even in an fa cup tie.
Boring b-----d.
Get gone hughton.

What i have not ever understood with the current owner is that other than Carvalho, and possibly Arter the club have not spent the required amount of money to spend on two to four quality players in the most needed positions at the time, instead they go for little or no fee for too many players, most that are not good enough.

So would it not have been easier, and cheaper to use and bring in young players with one, or two quality experienced players, with the right research the could well now be a strong side, if not have gone up to the PL but at least strong enough to challenge to go up each term.

13 Jan 2021 21:05:56
The owners have no idea about football in england and it shows.
Rash decisions
Bomb squads
Impatience.

FF79, you weren't the only ones defending Warburton on here. I was. I reckon your memory is going in your old age mate. :)

I have always advocated building a team around a few experienced players with youth players. You need silly money to buy success. It is almost impossible to do now due to financial fair play.

13 Jan 2021 22:34:00
Sos cyclist and you speak sense in your posts.
My point was too many wanted him out with hands tied behind his back and a manager that had a working relationship with his dof.
Unlike what we have now.

13 Jan 2021 23:38:09
Guys no matter what manager as come in eventually people want em gone I for one think you need a forest man in charge of forest so when cloughie left burton I was hoping he'd come here one thing with him he tries to get teams playing the right way and I'd love to see what he could do if given a decent squad, not a squad that's from dads army.

14 Jan 2021 00:35:08
Agreed. The DOF is crucial these days. Stuart Pearce seemed to have a great eye for a player and is respected in the game. I think he'd be a great call for DOF. However, he understands the game here so not a chance of ending up at Forest under the current set-up.

14 Jan 2021 00:37:38
And the biggest mistakes this club have made in recent years are sacking Sean O'Driscoll and Warburton. They know how to develop a squad.

14 Jan 2021 08:07:13
Warburton was going nowhere. Towards the end of his time here we were rubbish, and going backwards,
