I watched it today so thought it important to give my honest assessment for anyone who didn't. I have to say it was inept, clueless football. Appalling - we didn't string 2 passes together. Arter kept committing fouls in dangerous positions near the edge of the box and did nothing other than the odd 4 yard side pass. He was lucky to win a corner from a shot that was worthy of Twickenham - he's finished at this level of football. CH must have tremendous patience as he watched Cafu lay the ball off into touch from one of our rare moves on one occasion. Cafu also got into a completely unnecessary tangle with their keeper and wasted one of our few corners - would have dragged him off and let BT sport hear what I thought of his performance. On a positive note Jordan Smith's positional play and handling was immaculate - he didn't put a foot wrong and made it look easy. Mighten had one good run - he needs to run at teams every time he gets the ball and not get drawn into passing back and losing possession like the rest of the clueless midfield. Another positive I suppose is that I didn't have to queue and pay £30 to watch it! Hope we get an easy team in the next round?!

Mate the football is dross.
These are experienced players who obviously don't buy into hughton.
Ditch hughton now i'd even have karanka back that's how bad he is.
Got lucky last few games but it will run out.
Just sack him please we wanted improvement not this stuff.

I think this season is for many reasons a complex one. No way we should want to or need to change a manager who has success written all over his CV. CH has inherited a squad of players he had no control over. He will stop any more players being signed that have not been scrutinised by him. How can people carp about a win against Cardiff when we had not beaten them at the City Ground for years . Plus there were multiple changes in the team selection. CH will be moderating his opinions on all the players at his disposal . As he says yesterday likely NO players in but YES he hoped some players can leave. I am pleased for Lyle Taylor who sets a very good example to younger footballs. His interview supported by CH showed the strength of his character . Very sensible comments, that I hope most of us of not all would support .
I think we will be surprised a month from now how CH will mould this squad of we all agree mixed abilities into a winning team . The football may not be to some people’s liking , however relegation is considerably worse.

Doc, it’s a great win and a big well done for a good team performance, it is awful to watch though mate, there is no pattern of play whatsoever. A good opportunity to reflect though, my view now is McKenna / Worrall a must and bong looks as useful, if not more useful than ribeirio. Midfield and forwards though? Big, big issues to resolve because frankly Yates, Cafu, mighten, MAG and ameobi aren’t good enough to create anything . Not sure what’s up with Lolley but suspect he’d be better if the rest were better? Good that we’ve got a footing to build off though and if we can get some good attackers we should go on to much better things moving forward .

I think the crap that surrounds lolley is rubbing off on him as for ch needs to go, why do fans moan about no consistency managers not given a chance to prove themselves then we are on a 6 game run and still wanting Chris's head on a pole honestly what do you want we have a group of players who would probably struggle to get in any decent team, but it's been like that for the last 10 years last time we had a decent team was when davis first come since then we've signed over the hill oaps on stupid wages.

Dan, personally I’d stick with CH, as boring and uninspiring as it is I’d stick with him .
