I think CH must be tearing his greying hair out. He has tried, he has changed systems and formation. He has drafted in players and given the team attacking options but in reality either they just aren't good enough or motivated enough. A bit of both I think. Yeah we could change manager we might get a 3 match response but the facts are the majority fall below at this level through age naievity and ability. I watched George Friend yesterday he did not look his age, was strong and determined then I looked at Christie, his eyes blank. Our holding mids were chasing shadows yesterday, absolutely outdone by Brum moving the ball quickly and accurately, they had absolutely no pace in their team but zipped it about and forced us back so quuckly.
We all cried out for pace but in mighten we have another development player thst might rip it up in training but at this level lacks composure and thought and how best to use his pace. Brum put 2 on him and he could not get away, looked shackled, and went to ground too easily. How many passes and crosses went into no mans land yesterday?
Is this Hughtons fault?
Against a better attack we would have conceded for sure. I cannot remember our centre backs winning crucial headers, figs looks short by 4 inches. Look at Roberts at the back for them, he was a collossas. Even on one leg at the end we could not use sense or guile to expose him. He made us look pathetic, which we were. Is this Hughtons fault?
He put on taylor, lolley and knokeart keeping grabban on, did they gell or fathom anything? Schoolboy effort allround and that is being kind. You can blame the manager but when you have good individuals that might not gell you can always find a performance and say "at least he looked good and so and so has some magic, can't wait for them to gell"
Facts are there for all to see its all down to the players and attitude. They just cannot and won't step up to the plate. not playing for the manager? YOU PLAY FOR THE SHIRT.

I hear the shouts of " why did the manager play figerado "
I get that but look at Worral he is getting done on the deck again and maybe hughton needed cover for this, which to be fair to figs though lacking in ariel prowess he put his body in the way several times.

Good post RR7.

If they want "IT", they will give it but they dont. Surprising when you do the game becomes much easier. So glad I am not sitting watching this, in the past when fans booed they got rebuked by the club . We need that nettle patch Cloughy use to use .

Good yet truthful post Rutland. 👍.

We will never get anywhere with Sow and Yates in midfield. They struggle to pass forward and build up a pattern of play.

27 Dec 2020 13:02:35
Absolutely redtree, one of them is fine . Sow first choice by a mile with Yates providing the back up sow’s injury prone body requires . Ironically yates is another player who was starting to look good under martin and Roy. These days he just looks clueless, please take him out of the starting 11 .

Centre mid needs sorting in this window. Anyone who thinks Yates is the answer doesn’t know the question. In the 4231 in first half of last season Sow was the destroyer who had Watson in behind covering him. We also had Silva who despite his weaknesses with dead balls and goal scoring prowess was a tidy ball playing midfield who kept the ball moving. This has gone and so has the midfield.

Somewhere on here I spotted a post that mentioned Mighten was nullified due to the opposition doubling up on him. If the manager did his job properly then surely that should have meant that one of our attacking players had loads of space? In a cleverly managed team that is something to exploit, not a problem!

If Hughton was so negative that he used the spare man to just outnumber Birmingham in defence then that is exactly why the game was a boring toothless nil-nil.

Have to agree perks. Never thought i would praise silva but my Gid he was a world beater compared to our current turgid dross.

I’m exactly the same about silva, that midfield shouldn’t have been broken up, it’s clear now just how effective it was .

Why are people moaning about Yates and Sow when Cafu does absolutely nothing, he is the main problem with the midfield, is he the one that supposed to link up our midfield with our strikers, he is worse than Carvalho and probably Clough, I really liked Silva he did a great job but Cafu is nowhere near that standard, maybe Grabban could be deployed there similar to Saturday after the changes but needs more than a fifteen minute run.

Redcyclist i hear you. However fullback should be bombing past mighten to drag players out and mids should be gettjng beyond. that's not the managers fault its what good players do. One of the problems is grabban never fires off a quick one two. He needs an extra touch and always comes out the box with the ball moving across the line rather than feeding mids in on goal. Grabban did everything but lead the line yesterday and hasctye attitude of its my ball and if i can't play i am going home. A lot of grabbans goals. Last season came from quick breakaways where he lost his marker and slotted in a decent low cross. This just ain't happening now.

We swapped Silva for Cafu effectively. What does that tell you about the priorities of the owner?
