Never understood any jealousy or a threat from our neighbours notts county.
When a kid went from one to the othereach week, just to watch football, different leagues but enjoyed just watching football.
Tony hatlely was magnificent for them in the lower leagues when he came back and a joy to watch.
Ian stoerey moore was my hero though.
I was always red but a Nottingham lad and don't wish or see notts as any harm.
The city is a bit like Bristol not big enough for two teams in the modern day with greedy agents and players rinsinģ the clubs.

Ff79 jealousy? Any jealousy come from their side of the bridge, in general their fans are small minded, hate everything forest, wish us nothing but ill, even when we’re helping them out with players, collecting cash to help keep them afloat, or towards paying their staffs wages, nothing but bile comes from over there, Their pathetic moron of a previous owner typified their attitude towards forest, take everything we give and still slag us off, but the one good thing he did was take them out of the football league, credit to him for that, I personally hope we never loan them another player, give to Mansfield or Lincoln, , in the meantime I wish them everything they wish us,

Like you 79 I watched both teams as a kid and Hatlely ans ISM were my favourite players ,never seen a better header of the ball than big T ,often ended up using smelling salts after heading that heavy old ball so hard.
I believe he was lined up for Forest just before the fire but we had no insurance so nothing happened and that,s when the rot started ,end of Carey’s team.
On the subject of Ray Clemence in one England team the middle line was Clemence Watson Birtles and all had been released by Notts County as young players .

Great times carlo 20k plus in notts old ground watching forth division football.
Hately was star attraction and like you say one the best headers of a ball.
Remember when they played villa the next season afþer promotion in the third division great game and massive crowd.

With you all the way Stevie, it is indeed fitting that the man who destroyed them and took them into non league epitomises their behaviours . I wish every team in the region well other than them . I’d support derby before I’d set foot in meadow lane . Mansfield will do well under clough and that is going to stick in their craw - I can wait!

One season in his first spell Hately had 23 goals by Easter ,21 headers ,former Derby high jump champion ,then along with Astle coached by Lawton ,sadly both victims of early dementia.

Life was slower didn't have much but didn't want much, rat race now matè with everyone rushing around.
Love to go back to the sixties and seventies.
The only good thing to come out of this virus is to see no traffic jams again for the first time in 30 years.
My dad was a notts fan but let all his three sons choose and we went red.
Son in law notts fan and not a bad bone in him you can't put every notts fan as the same cus a few say something.
Anyway was great growing up going bullrushing and selling parrafin to be able to go and watch football and cricket in Nottingham as a kid all year round without it being expensive for my parents who could not have paid.

Agree about the 70’s I was having that conversation today with someone, 60, 70’s and 80’s were great decades albeit I think the 80’s were a transition decade to what we are now on reflection.

24 hour onpening was the death of normal family life.
Shops should not be allowed to open sundays. families would benefit so much from it.
Not religious at all but do think if this virus has taught us anything its quality time with your loved ones that realky matters.
