Another slant on the carvalaho saga. not only has he failed to justify the fee or make an impression, his legacy has blunted any further investment to the club. The cash money, or a large portion of it is being used to offset debts incurred through his purchase and possibly one other, so it seems. So not only do we get a strange footballer we get exciting team investment halted in favour of loans and free agents. How a club, who usually are cautious with fees could throw everything at a prospect from Benfica is worthy of investigation. His value now is nothing. So a player is getting shipped in, with a dubious scoring reputation, to help jiggle or move money around between olympiacos benfica and us. I wonder whether this contrevenes ffp or indeed falsely inflating stock value? This is what happens when someone owns 2 clubs. I still can't believe questions were not asked regarding the scenario around that last game of the season. Call me a conspitaracy theorist but something smells. i know that apparantly 4mil changed hands for samba, which i doubt, as he has the usual goalie failings like staying rooted to his line and fumbling crosess which were exposed worryingly 2nd half of the season.

I have been one of carvallho’s harshest critics on here, but the fee isn’t the lads fault, as for swapping players between clubs of the same owner, if this were illegal Watford would have been nicked years ago, people have argued on here because carvallho’s fee was spread it wouldn’t affect us, now we know they were wrong, as I always said,

{Ed001's Note - you are right about Watford, what they do is very shady. When Granada was bought off the Pozzos the new owners found that all the players on their books, the ones they had believed to be owned by Granada, turned out to be loanees from either Udinese or Watford!}

Ed didn’t Watford nearly have a team of udinese/ Granada loans at one time?

{Ed001's Note - no one is sure to be honest. I was looking into it and it is virtually impossible to tell who is actually owned by who as they shift them around constantly. If I didn't know that Italian football was honest and upstanding, I would wonder if there was some form of money laundering going on. Obviously we all know there is no corruption in Italy, not with Berlusconi having been PM, someone like him would never stand for any kind of wrongdoing, so I am probably completely wrong with my suspicions.}

Let's just hope he as a really good season in the under 23s we might get a few quid back for him then 😂😂.

Ed lol yep perish the thought Silvio would stand by and watch anything dodgy occurring 😁.

{Ed001's Note - I think we could guarantee he wouldn't be standing by and watching. Maybe in the middle of it, but definitely not standing by.}

Totally agree rutland, I would love to know who sanctioned the deal because Marinakas is no fool, Jorge Mendes had our pants down Carvalho, Goncalves and Dias were all managed by Gestifute the company run by Mendes, Carvalho's transfer market value was £2.25m when we agreed to pay a staggering £13m and over a five year period the overall amount will be around £17m with wages and add on's, it just seems so unbelievable that a championship club would shell out such a ridiculous amount of money for a Benfica reserve team player or is there more to it that we don't know?

Stevie f i know the carvslsho fee was spread over a few years but its these payments that are now being drained from the cash sale. Its nat his fault but his attitude is. It was a strange move then and even stranger now he is worthless and we are still paying for him which negstes any investment of quality to the team. As for marinakis shipping players around, we are so quick to scrutinise derby but what we are doing is pushing the boundries don't you think?

Do you need glass collector in your pub Skegs? Sure Forest will loan him to you for the season. 😎🎈.

I would have thought there was plenty of graft or corruption surrounding many deals in the English Leagues, especially where certain managers in the sport were concerned. Thinking of our friend 'arry who has costs clubs millions wherever he's gone.

{Ed001's Note - fair point, him, Fergie and Fat Scam Allardyce have still not sued the BBC over their allegations of brown envelopes in deals, even though they said they would do.}

Rutland I always said if you spend 13 mill over 3 or 5 years, you have still spent 13 mill, and it would impact on the budget, some on here seemed to think it wouldn’t affect us for some reason, and yes I do think shifting players around clubs of the same owner is open to abuse, I don’t believe an owner should be able to own more than 1 club, and yes we are open to accusations of dodgy dealings, mad Mel at derby tried to drag us into their sordid little scam, by insinuating what you are saying, so we need to be careful I agree,

Calvalho as talent but lacks pace and is too easily knocked off ball. He would suit playing in Greece. So send him there.
