Delighted that the Newcastle sale fell through. That was as dirty a situation as you could imagine and why the authorities took so long is sickening. Listening to the toon fans whinging demonstrates how low people are prepared to stoop in the name of buying success.
My main point though is the reason it fell through and we all should take heed. Due to world financial insecurities the deal became not viable. Investment of any kind is going to be precarious going forward and expectations need to be taylored to survival not prospering. Whilst uncertainty prevails due to the the virus crisis, money will not circulate so freely and many clubs will go to the wall.
Wages are not sustainable under the restrictions so a massive realignment will come into place. Maybe its what the game needs in the bigger picture but smaller clubs will need help.
So our hopes of a massive clearout and reinvestment will be minimal and our expectations should be survival and living to more meagre means for a few more years.

Clubs won't go to the wall.
Players and agents will find it more difficult to get what they want that's all.
Premier will carry on paying out the rest will cut their cloth and cut the size of squads and spend less on wages.

Bury a club of 130 years went recently before the C.V. Without gate receipts lower league clubs will struggle. Advertising revenue will be down so its going to be very testing times.
