I think we have a big quandry at the city Ground now: what do we do to get promotion, not just the play-offs. We have had umpteen managers and three different owners in the last 10 or so years, not to think about all the players that have gone through the club in that time, and we are still not near enough to being one of the top/best teams in the Championship.
What bothers me most is that there is nothing scientific or even ordered about how we build a team.
We seem to patch up the side with either imports from abroad whose quality is questionable, or older players from the UK who are reaching the end of their careers, and mix it with a few lads from our U23s.
Brentford seem to have developed a different way of looking at the problem and I noticed a lot of their players come from Scandinavia.
Lamouchi cannot say much about this, but it is high time we were told by the Owner and his Staff what they are going to do about the future and how they intend to lift us up to Premiership Status.
Everything to me seems chaotic right from Doughty's time, and any success seems to have been by good luck not planning.
Whilst we are all still seething at the breakdown in mentality of our professionals, no-one seems to be picking up the pieces and give us all some confidence, and that goes for the lads too.
If next season is going to be the same again but with a few decent players added to the mix we are not destined to go very far.
We need to be given a properly laid-out plan, otherwise it's no good us just giving blind loyalty to the club and those running it, because things will just meander on in the same chaotic way as they seem to have done over the last 20 years or so.
I am one Fed up Red.

I think we shouldn’t be looking at anyone else’s model as we tried to copy wolves an that failed spectacularly, cheers mendes but we should be looking at young, hungry players from the lower leagues, another main point is we need to be more attack minded and that’s the coaches choice so do we change coach aswell?

The answer was simple but that ship as now sailed .
Warnock!
We would have achieved our goal with him but he,d have wanted a free hand and even King Billy didn't,t get that ,he,s known the league like the back of his hand, but he,s his own man.

Thing is bsered we are doing exactly the same as brentford, but we are doing it badly and that's down to brentford having better dof and scouts and the owners are football savvy its that simple.
We need to bring in better quality recruitment team and then you will get better quality players.
Its common practice now in the top two divisions to have a coach with the dof sorting signings.
We just aren't doing a proper job.
My opinion is we just get more of the same for next season with a balance the books departure or two to make it ok.
Id say another eight players will be bought in all lacking in quality or young benfica kids with a view to bye.
Thats marinakis plan.

We were unbalanced with far too many defenders and central midfield players. We lacked options in attack. Then we recruited badly in January and that cost us the play offs. We needed and still need one or even two Championship level forwards. Not unknowns from Continental Div 2s or loans who contribute nothing.

Agree carlo.
Foriegn owners just won't have a manager running the club though.
Those days are gone.

Should be looking towards players in league one and league two with potential. Likes of Wells, Watkins, Stockley, Roofe were all signed pretty cheap. Then add a couple of decent loan signings from the Prem.

As much as I hate this system, it works for plenty of clubs and saves a fortune on purchases and wages. Just look at Abraham, Mount, White, Tomori etc. We however never seem to pull off loaning these top youngsters, maybe it's the philosophy of the club that puts them off. And yes, use our youth when we can, but unfortunately they aren't nowhere near regular first team football.
