As bitterly disappointing as last night was, and you can say what you like about the players and the manager, we have still had the best season we have had for years.

It cracks me up to see the told you so brigade coming out of the woodwork.

You don't finish top 8 in the Champ with a crap team or a crap manager. There have been some poor games this season but also some cracking games, Leeds at home springs to mind.

Stick with Lamouchi imo and let him build.

Looking forwards to next season already, hope we can hold on to our best players.

Agree1 Disagree0

Best players are you for real a team of chokers at best.

23 Jul 2020 10:05:12
Ginger that’s the problem we won’t hold on to our better players, we will be starting from scratch .

23 Jul 2020 10:20:01
We weren’t exactly attacking vs Leeds were we we scored an soaked up pressure then hit them on the counter to win 2-0 the best game this season at home was the 2nd half v Luton that’s it.

Ginger your posts are strange. Best season in years? Based on what? The footballs been turgid and i cannot think of many CRACKING GAMES. SL made stupid subs, played kids who are just not up to it. If yates is our midfield dynamo then we are poor. Our team lacks goals and cannot defend. We were lucky in many ways and the fact there was dross teams around this league is the reason we finnished so high up. I just cannot see the optimism for the future like you do. We flattered to deceive. The quality in players in the top two are light years ahead of us, both in ability and attitude. Again many of our so called better players ever were given a run in the team, why?

Let’s look at some play off facts ; Derby have been in the play offs 8x, twice and in the finals most recently last year. Leeds were in the play offs last year but prior to that it was 2006 . The last time we reached the playoffs were 2011! What I am saying is 7th is still a big plus and a forward who scored 20 goals in a season If the team learn from their mistakes and move on as Leeds did we will do better . Patently the team was not ready for the premier league and all of us could see that . It is the next steps we take, the players we sign, the issue of the right manager. Have we got to 7th because of the players or the manager.

Almost every game we've won it's always been holding on at the end. We also had a few really lucky 1-0 wins at home. My worry now is that we've been found out so the away form will dwindle away whilst we still don't know how to dominate matches on home soil.

lol, moan moan moan.

This season has made a nice change from a relegation scrap or mid table mediocracy or was that better than this season?

This is the first season in years we have finished one with the same manager and some people want to jump back on that merry go round again already. Do we not learn anything?

We have played to what strengths we have this season and done well, let us see who we can keep and what we can bring in for next season.

Last night was of course a monumental screw up but it has happened, but it shouldn't be all doom and gloom going forwards.

Rutland, I guess you would base your seasons success/ failure on your final league position, so best season in years for us.

I do feel sorry for those who have such a bleak and negative outlook on everything.

I get it people are angry and disappointed but come on.

23 Jul 2020 11:21:46
Rutland as that your word of the week ' turgid' 😅😅😅.

23 Jul 2020 12:42:13
Gingerkid think other mangers sussed out our tactics for the second half of the season.
They just let us have the ball and hit us with sucker punches when we committed forward.
They basically worked out we were toothless in front of goal and would not hurt them playing out from the back.
I'll agree it is an improvement, but to fail at the last hurdle with the odds stacked in our favour is unforgivable.

23 Jul 2020 12:46:21
Clough TURGID somes us up
Ginger, lamouchi brought walker back from lincoln, controvercially, and never played him. Personally i don't think walker was the answer but come on! Sl seemed to know only one way, set up to defend and chuck Grabban up front to run around, not his game. The crock purchases contimued and we, not once learned from our mistakes. Sorry to be harsh but these are harsh facts. Anywhere outside the top 6 is nowhere and you cannot take any positives from this failure.
Personally i don't care which league we play in as long as we play some decent football score some goals and live within our means. Do you think the players will trust SL going forward. If the treatment of oneil is a yardstick then that will be a resounding no.

Ginger I’ve been quite upbeat going into the play offs, but please don’t kid yourself there are any positives about the end to this season, last nights pathetic implosion could have far reaching financial implications for the club, with fans not being able to attend early season, the club will be honour bound to offer money back on season tickets, and I believe there will be a big take up, these people are not just fans they’re customers. The product year after year falls below the standard hoped for. And people will only be conned for so long, our brighter young players will leave, the established championship players probably too, and we will be left with the dross, I believe the feeling after the relegation game against Ipswich did leave some sort of feel good factor around for the following season this dismal end leaves nothing but recriminations and disappointment, not many I have spoken to are looking forward to next season because we finished 7 th this time, most I have spoken to have had enough, and by the way sabri shouldn’t have to wait to be sacked, he should have tendered his resignation on the final whistle, you ‘ take all the positives ‘ you like, but not many others are seeing them I can assure you of that.

23 Jul 2020 13:28:08
Good post stevie.
Me and most of my mates want a refund, not so much because of our implosion as you put but purely from the point you can't go or enjoy a pint in a pub.
I won't have a season ticket till life gets back to normal whenever that is and i certainly would not waste good money on i follow.

23 Jul 2020 14:16:05
Steve, this is an improvement on any of our recent seasons, fact. As I have said, its was a monumental screw up last night and the last few games to be honest, but it has happened and we have to get over it.

There are always positives to be taken and lessons to be learnt. Lamouchi has done a good job this season and I think we will be better next season.

If you want to sulk with your mates or if they don't want to go to anymore matches then good luck them and you. But I bet they do some back.
