2star mate just want to bring the academy discussion to the top of the board, you compared ours unfavourablely with the sh****** . How does that work?, the only 2players they have sold on for good money from their academy In recent years that I can recall, are Hughes, and huddlestone, ( 2nottm lads ) okay a few are playing in their 1st team at the mo that's getting beat every week, in our team we have cash, Worrall Yeats, we have used smith, Johnson mighten, etc, in a squad that has outperformed theirs all season, we have sold on Burke, brereton, lacelles Osborn, Darlow even going back to Bamford for good money, so I don't see where their academy, higher level or not has outperformed ours, or did I miss something?

Stevie, apologies there are a couple of 3 players I thought were derby lads bit were signed as youngsters Wisdom, Brayford and brailsford. Brereton and cash didn’t come through the academy but we would, I agree have had some hand in the latter part.
There are plenty who didn’t reach expectation but we’ve got those too (smith for example)
Mighten, Johnson and Walker - all I’ll say is we’ve heard it all before .
Appiah - we will never know burke definitely looked the part .
Appiah, Osborn, Burke and Brereton have all yielded an excellent return for the club.
Worrrall - hmmmmm, we will see.

Ps - Yates - sorry but no, being on the pitch doesn’t automatically mean he’s any good . There is time yet but he’s been quite poor this season, looked good at first but got sent off as I recall and has been naff ever since.

2star I am not saying Yates etc, are world beaters just that our squad kids have outperformed theirs all season, and the money we got for our sell ons dwarfs the total derby have received, not saying any of them were great, thought wisdom was a Liverpool loan for them mate,
{Ed001's Note - Wisdom was a Leeds academy lad, Liverpool bought him, then loaned him to Derby. If you want a giggle, go and have a look how he got on when he first tried to drive to Derby's training ground using sat nav.}

Yeah realised that now Ed, so many good lads come via Liverpool - development set up must be good.
{Ed001's Note - it is now, Rafa Benitez revamped it as it was a bit of a mess, but he also ripped out the good bits as well as the bad. Klopp has brought back the likes of Steve Heighway and so got the best of the old as well as the new.}

The Forest Academy has definitely been more profitable than the sh***ers' has. The lambs might have category 1 status but it hasn't bore much fruit as yet. Time will tell if it does but it won't be as beneficial in terms of financial value or quality and quantity as ours is.

I guess with his talent he doesn’t need to be too bright . I once remember someone who worked for us being despatched to a job in Frimley (Aldershot) way, his arrival in Blackpool was his first suspicion he’d gone the wrong way! I mean WTF?!

Haha I know mate - it’s still unbelievable to me to this day - complete muppet! This was in the days before fuel cards, he had to stump up for some fuel and tried to give us the receipt! We nick named him compass thereafter!

Ironically diesel! When he needed fuel he didn’t realise he had a hand pump accompanying the 45 gallon drums, he probably would have known how to use it anyway - I’m not making this up either!
