Has anyone been watching the retro matches on sky sports? We were on the other day, the first live recorded sky game from 92/ 93. We played Liverpool and won 1-0. Teddy Sheringham scored a cracking goal. I'd forgotten how good that team was, so how we went on to be relegated! Also saw Terry Wilson playing at CB alongside Chettle. Had forgotten all about him! We had Keane, Pearce, Clough, Laws etc in that side! It was great seeing Brian in the dugout, but sad to think that is also where our decades of downfall began.

Clough’s stubbornness got the better of him (painful but true) that season . We had the makings of a good side but we were weak at centre back and lacked resilience upfront . My understanding is we could have signed Collymore at any time that Season. Had we have signed him anytime before Feb, life would have been very different .

The drink had taken over by then 2 star and ronnie Fenton was covering for the great man.

Such a massive shame . A couple of good signings and we’d have been ok I’m sure. Without the drink Clough should have had another 4 or 5 good years in him .

Agree mate but all genius have a flaw and we all have a habit we do that isn't good for us.
Because he ran the club from top to bottom there was no one there to help him and to be honest he probably wouldn't have listened anyway.
We are just lucky that he came to forest and gave us so much joy.
Always be the greatest.

I always thought the John Sheridan fiasco was the start of things, there as no better replacement for Webb but Sir Brian's stance on him seemed to unbalance the team.
Sheridan had proved himself at Leeds and continued at Sheffield W .
I thought another championship side cpuld have been built around him with the talent we had !
CARLO

To be fair carlo sir Brian never took long to make his mind up that he'd bought the wrong player.
Asa Hartford, Ramondo Ponte, who played the best debut I've ever seen, gary megson.
It wasnt just their football ability with clough, it was that they understood what their job on and off the field entailed.
John McGovern and ian bowyer would not have won anything under any other manager and that was clough's geniusto get players playing and believing they were unstoppable.
