Give sammy amiobi a new improved contract. He's been so much better than i expected.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sometimes he looks like a 6ft Messi, other times he's just plain messy.

Certainly a decent squad player at Championship level though. I'd give him another year or two.

13 Nov 2019 14:40:11
If he’s a good champ player why would you give him another year or two?
We will need prem quality players next season.

13 Nov 2019 15:30:02
Bbm by giving him a year or two's contract we should get extra money for him should we get to the Premier league, if we stay in the Championship then we have a strong Championship player.

I'm not banking on promotion this year and I think it would be foolhardy to do so. I prefer the slowly-slowly-catchy-monkey-method, build a team bit by bit, have faith in the players that got you there and add a few sparkles of quality along the way, year-on-year.

As opposed to spunking a shed load of cash as soon as you go up and dumping the lads that got you there. You never know, if we do go up we might come down again and I'd rather have the lads that had a strong campaign in the second tier than a bunch of mercenaries that only joined for Premier League football.

Not a fan of Burnley per se, but the way they have done it and established themselves thus far is impressive and the way I'd like to see it done with Forest.

Lol 🙄.

SSWE i think over half of fans think along the same lines as yourself but the club under our present owner does not work that way, and off course should we get to the Premier league then relegated the odds are Premier league teams would most likely but our better players.

13 Nov 2019 18:07:31
Strong sentiment indeed Wonky. I know where you're coming from! Sadly this approach is outdated.

14 Nov 2019 09:30:46
I don't think it's completely outdated. Burnley, Bournemouth, Brighton and Sheffield United have all gone up and done ok without spending a ton of cash and most still have players in their side that were there during their time in the Championship. It's definitely do-able.

I'm hoping Marinakis has a similar plan but wouldn't be at all surprised to see him be a bit more ambitious and get the chequebook out.

14 Nov 2019 09:49:52
SSWE how many of our current squad do rate to do alright should we get to the Premier league?

14 Nov 2019 11:22:26
Wtw - about the same number as sheff united maybe?

14 Nov 2019 11:41:47
It's hard to say WTW, but there are certainly players in the squad that can improve, or can continue to improve, particularly some of the younger lads - Samba, Cash, Worrall, Ribeiro, Yates, Semedo etc.

The difference between the top 10 in the Championship and the bottom 10 in the Premier League is not that massive. And don't forget team work and team ethic goes a long way! It's not all about superstars and stellar signings - Just look at Sheffield United this season. It's still early in the campaign but they're 5th and haven't splashed out on one single proven top flight player (unless you include the 37yo Jagielka, who's yet to actually start a league game for them) .

There's always more than one way to go about your business, but personally, I'd like to see Forest do it the 'old-fashioned' way. A good, honest, hard-working group, the right ethos and a good Manager can be enough to keep you in the Premier League, then let's build from that core.
