Reading the plight of 2 northwest clubs should send a severe warning our way. Bury were on the brink and Bolton have until lunchtime today to be saved from being wound up. Operating costs at clubs like ours must be colossal. How big is our operating deficit? Are the FL turning a blind eye to management of funds and wages with the worry that too many big clubs baying for the prem are out of kilter with ffp? We must be close to it, not so much with transfer spending but on the ratio of wages to turnstile income.

It is worrying that caution has been thrown to the wind ref the size of the squad so what else at the club could be out proportion. What safety net have we got if we do not reach the prem this year or next and marikinakis walks away?
I am not writing this as a doom and gloom article, as their is a NEW positve atmosphere developing at our historic club and long may it continue. But outside of the prem clubs are being found out as in Boltons case. Remember Holdsworth being the new money at the club? Well his fortune went belly up.

Not sure if our owner has faced his charges yet? If not that could be a dark cloud if punitive sanctions were levelled against him. I really hope that the financial viability of the club does not rest on reaching the prem this year as this owner seems happy to plunder cash and resources in areas that could seriously damage the club long term if we fall short again this or next season. A sobering word of cautuion and good luck, seriously to Bolton and Bury in maintaining their status.

Apparently, we shouldn't worry about the money at all.

Seem to remember the the one time chairman of Bolton wanting to make the premier league a closed shop, when they were in it of course, they didn’t seem to give a toss about anybody else then,

Rutland, our owner isn't such a successful business man through bad accounting. He'll have a network of people who have financial projections 1,2,5, 10 years from now. He isn't Fawaz.

For me the ffp rules are killing the competition cus realistically now only the top 6 will win the league with exception of the freak season of Leicester, so all the teams will be spending more to try to compete, wouldn’t it be so much more interesting if top levels teams ie prem, la Liga, serie A etc could only spend 50m a year that way it would be fair.

Arran problem is mate turkeys are never going to vote for Christmas, the biggest clubs with all the power would never agree to it.

Great analogy Stevie but too true wasnt long ago Man City were just a nameless team struggling in the lower leagues. Now because of the super rich spending power of their owners they are regarded as one of the best teams in the world. Such ashame money talks barring Liverpool and Man Utd who have always been regarded as big respectful teams you only have to throw a billionaire into a club who gets it right and all of a sudden they think they own the footballing world.
