Had a great time last night at the match. Squeezed a couple of pints in and got chips and curry sauce on the way to the Brian Clough stand. Plus spent some quality time with my lad. That game was a hundred miles an hour and a pleasure to watch. Thought we edged it first half and would've liked to have gone in at the break 2-0 up. A brilliant performance by the lads and the scousers were rattled. Their fans were mute after Woody's excellent finish and didn't wake up again until Jota scored after a clear foul on Sels. To be fair Liverpool were rampant at times in the second half but the Reds were gallant in defence and still so dangerous on the counter attack. Would have loved a win and the 3 points but I'll take the draw against one of the best teams in Europe. 4 points out of 6 ain't bad. And what an atmosphere, spine tingling with edge of your seat football. Splendid!

Disappointed to hear Scouses going back to We hate Nottm Forest,
Took me back to the sad Old Trafford replay.
CARLO.

The scouses have been singing that since the seventies. I haven't got a problem with it, after all we have fans singing 'sign on' and always the victims chants.

Yes, I don’t think it’s maliciously meant, just that the syllables scan superbly into the iambic pentameters that the learned Scousers use in their rhymes. Started with Chaucer and passed onto Liverpool by the great Mersey Sound poets Adrian Henri, Brian Patten and Roger McGough, all of whom realised the ubiquity of decasyllabic verse forms. Or perhaps they just hate us……????.

That replay was definitely not the place to sing it as we came on to the pitch.
CARLO.

Great assessment of the game Perko. Thanks mate.

Stokey - as usual. I don't have the intelligence to even try to fathom out what on earth you're talking about!

Yes Stokey! You've got it! I prefer the term 'coruscating wit'when describing the scouse one liner. And don't we just adore the final syllable - delivered with a little spit!
