Finally, for tonight, I remember one of my all time heroes Peter Cooke describing a Judge (who had found him guilty of libel) as "a consummate player of the pink oboe". Probably the best euphemism ever. Any nominations for present day recipients of this title?

Bowie my friend just Google it. Don’t want to fall foul of the censors!
I loved Macca and last night at Glastonbury with Springsteen and Grohl was just incredible. Though McCartney is imo one of the greatest songwriters and performers ever I think he lost that edge when he couldn’t spark off Lennon. Still brilliant though.
For some reason I was listening to Paul Simon and Graceland ( song and album) yesterday. Saw him with Ladysmith Black Mombasa and Hugh Masekela in Brum back in the day. The lyrics to the song are just sublime. I mean any song which starts with the line “the Mississippi Delta was shining like a national guitar” has gone to be a winner!
