The issue of pitch invasions has drawn some polar opposite remarks. My thoughts are quite severe on this issue. Monica Seles was stabbed as was another female tennis star on court. We go to matches to spectate, to watch from the stands and support. We have no right to go on to the hallowed turf and embrace, touch, appeal for a selfie or jostle the players. You would not do it in a public place and I bet players are ver worried when the mob invades the pitch. It has to be regarded as the utmost in safety that fans stay well away from the playing surface. We had fencing for a reason and in respect to the outcome of that disastrous issue it should be absolutely crystal clear that nobody leaves the stands other than through the exits, designed for safe travel in and out of the ground. How it is enforced is open to suggestions but balloons has it with dogs, I would go further but I am draconian when it comes to law and order. I saw men with masks hoods and dark glasses on Tuesday, it's only a matter of time before a disaster occurs. Billy sharp was lucky not to have had his temple caved in such was the verosity of that attack to his scull. Billy sharp of all ppl. A model professional who wore the garibaldi and has handled family tradgedy with grace and dignity. Rightly this incident is being reviewed and I hope they come up with a serious solution.

With Robert Biggs being sentenced to 6 months imprisonment for the attack on billy sharpe, I think it’s only right mcburnie should get the same sentence as Biggs or maybe even a longer sentence for mcburnie because he’s supposed to set a example being a pro footballer or is there one rule for one and one for the other……. mcburnie should be locked up simple.

Fff79, Bowie and 2tone what do you think about us all hiring a minibus for the trip to Wembley next weekend that way we can all go down together and then anyone else who wants to come on here can? Just a idea lads.

I won't argue with most of what you say rutland and understand totally were you are coming from, and that unfortunately. , the majority of us have to be protected in some way against what could happen , but the majority of fans on the pitch did not go on there to cause any trouble to anyone else, they went on to celebrate a-great win and achievement, because of one absolute Banker possibility a few more that I didn’t see everyone get’s tarred with the same brush . Its people human beings, mainly a minority, that ruin things for the rest, look what crazy man Putin is doing in Ukrainian the odd few EF everything up for the rest. But I’m afraid if I get another chance to be on that pitch then I’ll be there, and ok class me as a70+year old hooligan if you like, I’ll take that, I could be dead this time next year and never be able to go on again, I've waited 20odd years for this I’ll take my chances of being arrested 😉😉😉👍.

Rutland you raise an interesting point mate. I guess the key question is how do perhaps 100 to 150 combined Police, Stewards and other security prevent a 30 thousand crowd getting onto the pitch once they’ve collectively decided to do that?
Horses and dogs were a deterrent but I believe Notts and other forces axed or severely reduced the Mounted and Dog sections due to cut backs.
It’s basically risk management when 150 000 Officers have to Police 60 million people. If we didn’t have Policing by consent where would we be? We’d be in France or China that's where we d be. 😆😆.

Dreamteam mate you are missing the point mate
ITS AN OFFENCE TO GO ONTO A FOOTBALL PITCH AS A FAN.
So if you feel the urge?
Then there are consequences as you are breaking the law.
Imagine if all the top tiers went down early to join in?
Is the pitch big enough?
No people would get hurt. kids would get crushed.
You really need to think about it.

I understand all the comments. But to many of them - remember - on Sunday the guy went to a football game, Thursday he is in prison. Swift justice in anyones book. If that thought does not make you consider the results of your actions then you shouldn’t go to football games.

He’ll be out on licence in three months (provided he is a good boy) and be monitored for the remainder of the 24 weeks and liable to recall to prison. However, his actions will change his life. As I explained in another reply he may well lose his job and as a consequence lose his house and even his family. The ramifications could be enormous. The 24 weeks is kind of irrelevant in the remainder of his life.
