Good point against a top 3 side but we need to start getting the ball to Johnson earlier which we did when Cooper first took over, we also need to improve on attacking corners to many near post stuff get it in the middle of the 6 yard box and throw your head at it.

We are going back to draws are o.k, we had the new manager bounce. Know we need to win some. I don't think we are getting promoted this season, but would like to end in the play - offs. Make the season interesting.

With lowe injured we have no option at left back that can work alongside Johnson, bit in my opinion have an option if we play wingbacks in Joe lolley.
Let's face it we are playing with ten men with bong on the pitch so just give the opposition something to worry about and a lolley Johnson pairing would worry most opponents.

Solid mid table red tan, no where near the top six This season, not enough goals in the team and we are still to slow to get forward, we still poor at home and it’s too easy for teams to stifle us . Hughton was poor but he didn’t have a top six team sat at the foot of the table - it’s not a great team we have here . Let that not take the shine off the massive improvement we’ve made though, hughton would have taken us down no doubt but I can’t see Cooper getting us much higher than mid table this season - I’m good with that though .

I wouldn't want to go up 2 star tis season even if we reach the play offs, which I think we will, we aren't ready as a club, you look at the training facilities at most clubs in the Premier and that's what makes a difference.
They play on state of the art facilities while we play on wilford Lane in a tent?
We a better training ground before we need a new stand to progress and stay there.
Although you go up and get slaughtered week in and out it can lay the foundations if the money is invested wisely?
Problem with that is fans don't want to see us get slaughtered every week and rightly so?
Only one way and we where on that course under warbo, put the faith in youth with a few astute signings at the right price, some will pay off some won't, but we have never done any better since we sacked him.
Brereton, cash, walker, Worrall, probably better than some of the young players coming through now?
And we had the 15 million from Assombalonga.
I just like coopers way of going for it even if we are lacking in certain areas.

{Ed001's Note - you make a good point there, that is what Burnley did under Sean Dyche. They got up and relegated immediately, but Dyche refused to take all the money for signings, instead spending it on the infrastructure of the club. It has reaped dividends for them.}

Edd we have gained a higher status in our under 23,but to really progress we need better facilities than we have.
Many sides get to the prem and go out and blow their money on sometimes good signings, but it takes time to mould a side and you always need a foundation.
The problem then is even if they are good signings for the prem they aren't prepared to play even one season in the championship and get something signed in their contracts and invariably cost the club a fortune and if they aren't any good stay, and still cost the club a fortune? if you get relegated, think most sides now understand it pointless spending all the 150 million trying to stay there in one season.
150 million spent on training facilities attracts a better quality youngster in the first place and while it's not instant success, the long term benefits far out way the short term.
Correct me if I'm wrong though edd l, but is money spent on youth training facilities or facilities in general, not part of ffp?
To me you get that right first at a club, I'd love a new stand but I'd prefer a successful side first.
No point being like Sunderland, Nice stadium shame about the side?

{Ed001's Note - you are correct, they are exempt from FFP calculations. That is why it makes more sense to spend on them, it is a big help for the future of the club. I am with you on this all the way.}

2 star mate confidence is the biggest factor in football to me.
If your manager is confident then the players will feed off that.
Even when you know you can't win?
Never let your players know that, always tell them they can do it.
The way in life to get the best out of any workforce is to be positive, have a smile on your face and tel them how good they are, even if they aren't the best individually,

Ff79 couldn't agree more mate, but as balloons pointed out. Name a half decent 11 that belong to us. A manager can only motivate what's in front of him. Yet most are ready to fly the nest.

If you check out most the championship they have loans that are better than their players on the books.
It's interesting that a 13 million loss a season was put in place few years ago but there has been no change to that figure and with inflation and players wages still rising, it should be looked at and capped every so many years?
Add c.v. to the equation and no gate receipts, then it's not a viable figure anymore?
I believe 39 million should never be a ball park figure anyway, it should be based on the turnover of each club individually percentage wise of their turnover
Let's say a club like Luton or Peterborough does not have the income of say forest Stoke Bristol?
And yet have the same rules?
They don't have the same expenditures.

Defo a good point JS, we need to carry on grabbing the points where we can, someone has mentioned it’s not a great team if you strip out the loanees so January is going to be interesting and important. I genuinely think we’re going to have to sell someone to stay within FFP, not to fund signings to stay within FFP. If we can hold onto the loan players who are performing we’ll do ok . The next area of interest for me is the summer, Cooper walked at Swansea because big decisions were made without him, we’re going to find out really quickly if we’ve changed our ways in how the club is run . I do hope so.
