There have been some that have said the manager should get, and deserves to get another term in charge, those of you that feel that way i ask?

What has the manager done at Nottingham Forest that makes you feel the way you do.

It is the 37 goals the team scored.

We finished 17th in the league.

We drew 16 games.

We lost 18 games.

We managed to beat Coventry, Wycombe, Sheffield Wednesday, and Rotherham, or could it be because

The manager has the worst win ratio for many years.

You have forgotten Swansea putting 5 goals past us.

GF that team was the worst in living memory. Give him a fair chsnce for goodness sake.

Just ponder this GF
When Clough arrived at Forest, between Jan and May 1975 he won 3 games to end of season. ( could have been sacked )
The following season 75_76 they finished 8th after a one or two signings .
The following season 76_77 they went up.

None of the above GF he just needs to be given the chance too build his team for this season, then we can all judge him on that, I agree he’s shown us nothing yet but I believe he deserves a chance, you can’t judge the man on five signings, loans at that, if he fails after that, he's OUT.

Not me get forward another season under him will be a wasted one, the only ones that want him are because they are clinging on to the faint hooe he will do the buisness because he did it a while back.
Take into account his failure at Norwich and Birmingham then a terrible first season with us then that chance is about 40/ 60 against him doing anything .
With his dour tactics i won't give him long as forest manager and i will rejoice when we finally say goodbye and he joins megson on the managers scrap heap for boring fans across the country.

Ff Dino football of the boring variety is here to stay.
Don't expect anything to change.
Hate to make this claim and will probably get shot to pieces but i think Forest will be fighting off a relegation battle this season.

Warburton had a much higher win ratio with a poor team also.

I don’t know much about Chris houghton the football manager and Chris houghton the man himself to judge him on only three quarters of a season and not even having any of his own signings accept 5 loan signings which was probably forced upon him as he didn’t have his own chosen players in the team to play exactly the way he wanted them to play and to what formation and style he wanted them to play to.
Let’s not forget we wasn’t pulling up any trees when he first came to the club we had 5 straight defeats and a collapse at the end of the following season to a very mediocre stoke city side which would be amateurish and unforgivable if Brian Clough would have been watching the match, it was no professional performance that fateful day, Brian Clough would have probably kicked them all up the arse and sacked the lot including the coaches at the club lol.
So fellow jolly foresters I’m saying Chris Houghton didn’t really have his own players to play to the style and spirit of what he wanted them to play too, so probably staying up was his only focus with the players he (inherited) surly getting rid of 12 players says it all that Chris was not happy with what he got landed with as he’s getting rid of the useless and probably bad Bramley apples in the squad which can make the team spirit and continuity of the squad unhappy so fellow reds let’s be fair and give the man Chris Houghton a chance to bring in the players he wants to play to the style and formation he wants Nottingham Forest FC supporters are the best in the land so let’s please at least give him next season to prove he knows what he’s doing.
FTID home or away style and spirit is still intact.

Ive got nothing at all against hughton damson mate, just his style of football. let's face it was horrible to watch. You can say anything you want about the players he was stuck with or even the ones he brought in. That was his style of football full stop. And its old and totally predictable. We need to move with the times. Sorry mate 👍

To be honest a lot of top level football is boring especially internationals . This continental style of keep ball and pass along the back line is boring but has been adopted by the Premier league probably because of all the foreign players. There are odd examples of gun ho attack, attack sides but very few. I would guess that there are far more pragmatic managers out there than attack minded, its just the way it is. I would also hazard a guess that its easier to coach a team to be negative/ defensive than attack minded especially if you don't have gifted talent or speed merchants in your squad.

Well said Damson red. Wholeheartedly agree. We need to let hughton have his first full season with a better squad.

Don’t be sorry Bowie mate it’s always good to hear your views man, if we all agreed it would be a boring world or like you say Bowie as boring as Chris Houghton’s tactics last season lol great post Bowie mate 👍
That’s exactly what I was trying to say trentender good post maybe he was stuck with playing boring football because of the players he inherited thanks Trentender.

Trentender that was a very interesting reply mate.and makes sense. But a couple of things you say attack atack football just attack would do me. As for negative, would you have said any of the 3 that went up played anything like us ? As for the players i wouldn't say we were the slowest side in the league. It comes to the manager instilling confidence and belief in the players. Not putting them on the bench to play his favourites etc. And even without pace there was enough influence to rob that extra yard within our squad. But that comes with the right formations. Just my view.

I'm probably going to get salted for this but what's wrong with 442 its old school if you have the right players then you'd beat most teams.

15.) 04 Jun 2021
04 Jun 2021 16:03:28
Nothing wrong with 442 dan, if you've got 2 strikers, we had none. So wouldn't beat most teams mate.

Damson you say the manager only had three quarters of a season, if that is the case Forest only played 16 games, the manager was the manager for 41, or 42 games so he had nearly a whole season, not 34.

You say the loan players were forced on him, where do you get that from?

Knockeart has worked with him at another club as did Murray, that does not sound forced to me.

Others have said it was his Man Utd connections that got us Garner, if they are right then Garner was not forced on him either.

O'Neil got a 46% win rate were the players he got given to him or were they of his choosing.

GF in respect to damson mate, like a lot of us on here were not statisticians and maths is out the window. I think he was aiming at he wasnt there at the beginning. Please believe me when i say this i'm not aiming at yourself personally. But some posters are put off coming on here for reasons like this incase there pulled up on there wrongs. Anyway you know i luv ya 😍

In answer to you Bowie, no we didn't play like the 3 promoted teams but then again I bet the 3 promoted teams won't play the way they did in the Championship now their in Premier league or they will be straight back down. That was Norwichs down fall whe they got relegated. Re our team, you can only install so much confidence, there needs to be some talent and correct attitude from players in the first place. However you can't polish aturd as the saying goes. Looking at our side on the speed from front, not many that would win a sprint for the ball, Mighten maybe the exception.
However all will be better next season, there just seems a different vibe at the club that is slowly changing the mess of the last 18 months. Different outlook, different atmosphere within club and forward planning behind the scenes. we aren't party to all that's going off but I just feel they have learnt from their mistakes.

Damsonred Hughton inherited a team that was only 2 players short of the team that got to seventh in the Championship.

A manager of his experience should have been able to find a replacement for Cash, and Watson be it loan or permanent in the January transfer window.

Then results from Jan would have improved steadily but hey that did not happen.

Why give Hughton more time than any other managers when his record is the poor in comparison to all the others.

I agree with what 79 said it is only because you are clinging on to what Hughton has done elsewhere, not what he has done with us.

The 12 players let go includes all of the loan players some of which could return.

The rest of the players let go were players whose contracts that came to an end and Hughton decided not keep them Ameobi is the only surprise not to have his contact renewed.
