We are now reaping what was sown by not bringing in a couple of quality attacking players. Half a dozen centre backs and only ONE quality striker shows what a complete inbalance the squad has. The players around Grabbon are not giving him the close up service or support that a lone striker requires, that is why we are the lowest scoring top half team. Lolley is not close to the Lolley of last season, Silva is a good player but not a goal scorer, Ameobi put in some good crosses last night but also not a regular net finder and Carvalho while very occasionally looks class it is looking more and more like he can't do it on any regular basis which is a 13 million luxury that we can't afford to carry unfortunatley. Harsh but in the main I think a fair assessment of where we are a why we can't beat some very average opposition of late, who seem to know this and keep picking our pocket far to often. We are better defence than we have been for a long time with the best keeper in the championship and Worrall and Dawson looking solid. And credit to Ben Watson who as been outstanding of late but it all comes back to GOALS win games so we can only hope we can rectify the offensive shortfall as soon as possible come January or bye bye to the play offs I fear as things are looking at the moment. U REDS.

I agree with everything you’ve written, even the Carvalho point. On his day he is class but those days are few and fair between.

Good post RR. All the effort put in to get a left footed centre back would have been better spent on an attacking player.

I think some forget that the quality of player we needed in the summer some would have been put off by where we have finished in previous seasons. The club brought in the best quality they were able to the brought in the amount of defenders they did because Sabri likes a strong defence so gave him plenty of choice in that department. As some have said what class striker is going to want to be sitting on the bench, be it Grabban, or a new signing, or do the club tell Sabri we have two quality strikers we want you to play both. In the end the club took the decision let us see where we are in January then we go from their. The club like the rest of us want to be promoted to the Premier league, but they have a strategy, they showed that by only signing Sabri on a short term contract.

I agree with most of your opinions Reford. However, Watson for me slows everything down then turns in a circle. We aren't moving forward with pace! Why was Silva taken off when he ran midfield and Amobei for all his faults dies at least stretch the opposition . We don't get round defenses. We are a mid table team.

I think the strategy was to give a manager a year's contract so if he's crap he will be gone without having to pay him off like we have all the rest of the managers who we are still probably paying. Not the fact if we don't get up to the Premier league they will be sacked you really can't expect a unknown manager to come in with a average squad and work miracles lol what he's done so far is a lot better than anyone thought so he deserves another season and another contract for me simples.

If we are not close enough to the play offs the club considers the manager not to be good enough, any striker that is a worthy back up to Grabban is going to want premier league wages unless the club finds a gem from another country. If the club had gone all out and got Gayle for instance then it could well have pushed the clubs debts too far. We have too many players that Sabri does not want but refuse to leave.

Hes done very well skeggs and at least made us hard to beat so the foundation is solid which is a massive plus,3 good signings even if only on loan and we will have a good chance from the playoffs as it's looking like Leeds and WBA will walk away with the two auto places now.
Danger is we lose Lamouchi if another side come in for him with a long contract offer.
Whatever happens we need to keep him as now with this defence we have something we can build on another left back to cover for reberio the only defender I'd like to see us sign.

Totally agree 79 best manager we've had in ages and still building we lose him back to square one with muppet like krankie over paid and useless.

Ps Lamouchi can only coach the players he's given the men in charge of bringing in the players need to do better.
It's always easier and cheaper to find defensive players it's the game changers and strikers that cost.

We are nearly there regarding the team, as ff79 says 3 QUALITY signings are required to push on. Hopefully these signings have been identified and are ready to go.

I think we will see them red dog think that's why we sold appiah at the last minute to free up some cash.
Pity we wasted money on bringing bostock, mir, muric in I know it's only on loan but all three are poor.
Chema although he looks ok wasn't needed but wouldn't mind seeing him at left back Saturday more accomplished with the ball than Robinson.
Hoping those three loans can be sent back in the window if possible.
