Don't post much in the closed season, but it doesn't look good for Forest bringing back any of the loan players as yet, still time, but can't see it happening, so my question is, will this situation cause us to loose the fantastic camaraderie and team spirit we could all see last season, could it be detrimental for the team going forward into this season, sometimes togetherness and team spirit are worth more than any 20 million plus players.

God point but a manager lives by his results
Some of it will be down to inflated prices being asked by their clubs now, even though they don't want them?
Spence won't want to play for boro?
Boro didn't rate him very highly a year ago but now want 20 million?
No club will pay that outright.
So be down to boro accepting best deal they can get and the players being satisfied hecwill get to play regularly.
He will be in demand but not as much as boro would wish.
Leave it to the professionals to sort out.

If we'd signed a couple of them think the team spirit and momentum would have continued, but looks like we're signing none of them, but in Cooper we trust.

Ask yourself this
Is 5 million for Lowe a good deal?
Is 15 million for Davis a good deal? Is their quality worth the price tag I'm not sure it is can we get better quality for those prices? I think we can unfortunately this was always going to be an issue with so many loan players. In hindsight if we had not won promotion hiw many of thise loan players would we have signed . probably none .

In cooper we trust, he did well with what he had and he created the team spirit as there was none when he turned up and I am sure with any of the new players we bring in he will create the same again.

It's not worth paying the prices that the clubs are wanting for the loan players we had they know we are interested and are trying it on Davis is good but not worth 15m and Lowe is not worth 5m not.

Murphy and Co know who they want and we have to trust there judgement just like in January, am sure before pre season starts we will have the players in that cooper wants

Am I the only one that thinks £5m is a decent deal for Lowe? I quite like him. Would still need another LWB to give him competition though. Ideally, Tagliafico may be on the move for around £4m, although he'll probably be off to a Champs League club. Lowe and Tagliafico for under £10m would be spectacularly good imo.

£5M for a crock? If he was fit for 40 games, it's a good deal. But how likely is that?

Lowe as missed more games than he’s played whilst on loan at forest. Plus even if fit. Is he good enough for prem. maybe for £2m he’d be worth the risk.
Williams can play either side
Still praying spence joins.

Issa Kabore is probably an upgrade on Spence.

I personally wouldn't worry about the comradery, as I think it is very much Cooper and co who have been responsible for that.

I'd say 5 million for Lowe is a little steep but I like the way the club won't be held to ransom I'm sure we have a long list of potential targets I'd just like to see them signed sooner rather than later to give them time to gel. I personally think having time to gel plays a big factor in the commeradere aspect.

18 months or so ago I said on here that the team we field if we go up to the Prem will be very different to the one we have in the Championship. I still think that is the case.

As other people have said, Lowe isn't worth £5 million, Davis isn't worth £15 million and Spence isn't worth £20 million. Those prices are simply extortionate and Forest are correct in not paying them because it would give every other selling club the idea that Forest are willing to pay over the odds and that's not a situation we want. The club is absolutely right in looking elsewhere. It's a shame though as it would be brilliant to get Spence and Davis back.

Zinckernagel is a superb player at Championship level but probably not what we need for the Prem unless as a backup option, but it wouldn't be in his interest to accept that, so it is best for all parties if he goes elsewhere (Olympiacos? ) . I don't think that Lowe is good enough for the Prem either and he gets injured far too often.

I dread to think what price tag United would put on Garner, but it would almost certainly be beyond anything Forest would be willing to pay for a single player, so the only hope there is to get him back on loan. This would suit all parties but nothing much has been said in public about it as far as I'm aware. It would be good for Forest and good for Garner's development as a player, with first team football almost guaranteed. And United would have a better and more experienced player at the end of it. It seems silly to ignore all that and leave him to sit on the bench at Old Trafford.

I am pleased that we are not doing the easy thing and re-signing all of the loanees. If we are to compete in the Premier League then we need to sign PL quality level players. The likes of Davis, Zink, and Garner were loaned to us because they were not ready or good enough for PL. Lowe and Spence were out of favour. Lowe is not PL standard and I would not want to pay over £10m for Spence who is also unproven at PL level or a top tier league in EU.

We have to hunt and sign players for the standard we are now going to have to compete at otherwise we will be straight back down again.

Having spent 23 years out of the PL, I think we are going to go for it by signing only first team ready players that can compete at PL level. Great news but going to be tough and expensive!

No room for sentimentality at Prem level. To be successful we need an utterly ruthless approach to improving the team. If Dane and co identify players who would be upgrades then we must not get bleary eyed over replacing them. “But he was a good lad” and “I liked him - he had some good games for us”. Remember Cloughie was the most ruthless manager of his time. He replaced Chris Woods with Shilton without even blinking. Team comes first young man!

Agree with ya 124, buying better quality obviously gives us a better chance. Not sure when Shilton replaced Woods though, it was the other way around in the 78 league Cup run. When Shilton was bought he replaced John Middleton, who ended up at Derby a few weeks later, with Archie Gemmell coming the other way.

I think someone else must be bleary-eyed if they think Shilton replaced Woods.

Lowe will be a PL fullback.

The earlier we get players in the more likely they are to gel before we start the season. A slow start will be a problem so let's hope Awinyi and Henderson will be followed by more incoming before pre season.
