Trying to ignore the rumours but it looks increasingly like the Union Berlin lad is coming - not what I had in mind I have to be honest in saying that .

Think he’s a massive upgrade on Davis so if he can settle which I’m sure he can as he was at Liverpool. Then SC will get the most out of him!

Very much in the Keinan Davis mould, you'd of been ok with that 2 star, wouldn't you.

I think it would be a quality signing. Not sure if they will sign Davis as well, but could be wrong.

Apologies all, I’d confused this guy with someone else . I’d be excited by this signing, similar to Davis and I don’t blame the club for resisting teams trying to fleece us for players they’d sell someone else for the fraction of the price .

Hope we sign Davis aswel. Let Grabbon go he won’t feature much.
Awoniyi Davis surridge
Plus gibbs white who can do a job up there.
Need to buy or replace garner. Ox chamberlain £10m.
Spence Williams as wing backs.

He looks decent and fits our mold, good age. It may mean if we do get him we're in a better position to negotiate for Davis if Copper wants him as well.

If we sign Neco Williams it will be to play at RWB, we won't get Spence AND Williams.

Ideally we need two LWB and a RWB to compete with Laryea.

RWB: Williams, Laryea
LWB: Lowe, Longelo

I'd be happy with those four. Although seen an ambitious link to Nicolas Tagliafico too.

Lyrea won't feature going on loan?.

Yea, strange one that. Thought Laryea would be a decent squad option, covering at RWB and LWB, but wwhat do I know? Cooper obviously has plans.

I really hope that I will be proven wrong and that he justifies the enormous £17 million price that people are talking about. He's still only 24 but I would advise caution about paying that much for him and I can't help but think that better could be obtained for that kind of money.

He started at Liverpool but never played for the first team. He was farmed out on loan to various medium-sized teams on the continent without achieving anything of note. He then moved to FSV Mainz 05 on loan, where he scored 1 goal in 12 appearances and then on loan to Union Berlin in the season before last, where he scored 5 in 21 appearances. He's had 4 caps for Nigeria.

However he was signed permanently by Union Berlin and in this season that has just finished, he scored 15 out of 31 appearances in the Bundesliga, which is excellent. But the enormous price tag seems to be based solely on this season alone. Lots of players have one good season.

I really genuinely hope that I'm proven wrong but I can't say that I'm overly optimistic about that.

People like you were pissed off when we signed Davis due to his poor goals to games ratio.

Wrote off Colback and Yates as not being championship level and subsequently destroyed Prem Leicester, Arsenal and then came close to knocking out Liverpool.

Simon34 or Cooper and Klopp? Who is likely to know a good player when they see one?

@RedCyclist

Apparently I need to point out to you the very obvious fallacy of yours that no one can have a valid opinion on a player unless he is Cooper or Klopp.

Of course Klopp really liked the guy. That's why he didn't pick him for the first team, not even once and not even when work permit issues were settled.

And no I wasn't pissed off about any of those other players because none of them cost £17 million.

The statistics on Awoniyi that I posted can easily be verified by a Google search. I really hope I'm proving wrong but the statistics are there for all to see.

I didn't say your opinion isn't valid, nobody knows how a signing will pan out. What I said (thought it was clear) was I think Cooper and Klopp are probably more likely to be able to spot a good player than you.

And no, those players didn't cost £17M, and that is likely because - in the opinion of our recruitment team - the new guy is better value than Davis.

Finally, nobody really knows whether it's costing us £17.5M. That is the release clause value, and the papers are assuming we have paid that.
