I went to see forest V Brentford. Here's my take on the game: best and most solid performance I've see in the team since the days of Billy Davies.
The first half was a game of cat and mouse as it nearly always is, though in neither half did the Bees ever look really threatening.

Forest looked like a team with a strong team spirit, constantly working for each other. Passing, tackling, and positional play were all spot on.
Like many around me I was bemused by both Calvalho and Silva being together in the team. In truth I never saw Carvalho do much at all. He stood out on the left wing not often involved, and he nutmegged one defender, end of. He might have well as not been there at all.

As for Silva, Carvalho let him take all the dead ball set pieces and none of them worked, corners included. Silva ran about a bit and incurred a few fouls, but it was only when Lolley took the corner we got the goal. for my money neither Carvalho or Silva are going to be creative geniuses. Most of us puzzled by this selection thought Bostock should have been on the pitch all along, because he has some good passes in him, and he would have been the ideal replacement when Sow was injured.

As for the players: I thought Watson Worrall and Cash were especially good, and it must be a dream to play in front of a a goalkeeper who is so cool as well as a cool guy - he encourages confidence in everything he does, and his distribution was excellent.

Praise also deserves to go to Chema who was very cooly impressive, Sow, who is someone who gives everything and puts his whole self into blocks and tackles - hopefully if he is injured then Bostock or Yates can take over from him for a while, and Ribeiro, always in the right position and very capable of starting attacks. Grabban was good at pushing defenders at every opportunity, but was out of luck today.

The last 14 minutes had some tension but Brentford never looked like penetrating what was effectively a back eight defensive machine.
We'll have easier and harder games than this ,but I think most teams in this league will not look forward to playing us. A good win and a very thorough, well organised and effective performance.

I don’t agree Carvalho and silva did nothing at all their first time passes and spreading of the play which may not always result in something does however take off lots of pressure, especially by carrying the ball up the pitch and winning fouls. Lolley looked poor and not for lack of effort, he just isn’t being a major influence that we saw last season. Agree with the stand out players like Chema worrall and Watson though.

So we beat them with 9 players 👌🏼😂.

Carvs didn’t have a great game on the wing. Silva was quality though. Especially in the second half. His delivery is the best in the squad from set pieces. His free kick nearly went in. Lolleys corner hit the first man and was a mistake by the Brentford player.

Carvalho was by far our most ineffective player on the pitch but he does seem to be playing out of position at the moment,

Whilst he isn’t worth 13 million at the minute I do think he offers us something at home on most occasions . He offers zero away from home and his worst games have been away from home no doubt . He had some really tough afternoons last season. At home though I think he’s worth his place generally.

Carvalho represents a good example of how strange football fans can be, some of our fans consistently clamour for him and afford him status previously reserved for greats like Pearce or Collymore . There are guys on the pitch who out shine him every week who don’t attract half the attention. It’s a strange one for sure, as yesterday seemed to show we go well even when he’s a passenger . Some truly outstanding performances yesterday from players who have formed a really good team.

Good times right at the minute for sure.

Bsred to be honest the forward players have not really found any consistency in form so far, its not the time to criticise as most of the attacking players are off form and we are joint top of the league
Just imagine how good we will be when they hit form?
We are going up my friend so just enjoy it.

To me Silva never achieved anything he tried and someone else could have done it better. He gives a lot of effort but with no results, to me he just doesn't have it.

As for the comment about Lolley here I think that's wrong. By far he looked a very dangerous player for us. He also completely supported his full back Cash and they worked really well together. I remind you that at the end of the match he ran the whole length of the pitch into Brentford's area, and then sprinted right back to his own area to help make a tackle, and the crowd gave him a standing ovation for it. The guy works his socks off for the team, to me that's enough.

Bsered no one will ever fault lolleys commitment he does that every game he's just starting to fire now and when he does he's awesome.
It's a team effort under Lamouchi and he is calling it right.
Normally brentford play us ragged but he's changed personall to beat them.
What you have to look at is the big picture we are making giant strides and look unbeatable, so just enjoy what's happening and no point in looking for a negative out of what is a very positive start to the season.

You say someone else? Like who?
Bostock?
Have you actually seen him play?
I've seen him once in league cup, he looks ok but nothing more.
Just trust the coach cus Lamouchi gets it right 98% of the time. 🤔🤔🤔.

totally agree bsered Lolley was outstanding with his work rate, Matty Cash wouldn't have the freedom without his permanently tracking back, how thr EP Clapometer can give JC around the same rating as Lolley is beyond me.

Why pick fault with anything?

No team can be where we are now if they were carrying passengers, nine men can't achieve top two, and neither can ten
Stop picking on any individual this is a team effort from a manager that knows how to get the best out of his squad and he's not doing too badly from the looks of it?
What's the point in going to a game and watching us win it then picking on individual players?
We won it was a great team effort and every player gave their all.

There are certain fans who need to pick fault. It’s the only thing that makes them happy. They enjoy moaning. That’s why they post more frequently when we lose and would prefer us to be near the bottom.

It's an opinion redtree but can't see where they are coming from?
Must just want perfection?
To say we have a new coach whose had little Time to evaluate and work with the squad, ie, eleven games, gets us to the top if the league and is on an unbeaten run of ten games, but are still not happy would suggest they will never be happy?
Sick of fans saying carvalho cost 13 million? Its was over a five year period not up front we got that for burke and assombalonga plus 8 for appiah, its just figures get over it accept where we are and enjoy and get behind this French revolution.
It's that simple.

Its bizarre to be honest. First time in a long time we’ve got a team who it’s a joy to support. This is the time they need they need our support the most. Just look at Watson I thought he was finished after last season. Now he’s early contender for player of the season. Carvs will have good games and bad games like all our players. It’s our job to support him. People on here take joy in criticising him. They need to accept the manager rates Carvs and at points this season he is going to win us games. So support him! 🥊.

SL is doing a great job selecting the right midfield blend for each game depending on the opposition. Trust the boss and enjoy being in the mix.

The whole team are working their socks off for the team. I watched JC especially this match due to the moaning about him and to be honest he is a genuine grafter that keeps to the formation and works so hard chasing players down . He has the confidence to try his bits of skill but they don't always come off but hats off to him in that he tries the flair bits, the crowd love it when it comes off. that's entertainment.

There is more responsibility to his game than attacking play. Why people keep going on about his price is beyond me. We paid it and that's now history. Get over it. There is no return clause so accept him as a Forest player that has helped us to second place.

It's a funny old game I'm sure if someone offered 15 million for carvalho and we took it fans would be saying good riddance because we're stuck with him he's doing great lol just my opinion 😁.

When we play crap people winge when we play well people winge, we are a championsh team who ain't won nowt in years, this is probably best start to a season in years first time in a long time the team are playing for each other as well as the manager so for me I'm seeing the glass as half full, as for carvalho costing 13 million he's a 22 year old kid they brought him for his potential give home time, one player who I really think we've missed is semedo, the only problem I have with how things are going this season is the lack of shots.

Dan you say the lack of shot for team is your only problem, west brom have only scored five more than us and four of those were in the last game. We are only one goal behind them on goal difference, so why the problem.
